I traded my stoeger coach a year ago and started looking at coaches again. I, as most John Wayne fans prefer exposed hammers, and I especially like the steel buttplate. Opinions? View attachment 4296
Never had a hammer double but have had two Stevens hammerless double 12's. There is something about a double 12 gauge that no sane man would ever fail to notice.........especially from the scary end!

Used one of those off and on for about 2 years doing western action shooting. Good gun, well built, went bang every time. Chambers need polishing if you are looking to do quick reloads. The hammers are a bit aggressive on unprotected thumbs until you work up some thick skin.
I had a gunsmith friend years ago that put a beautiful bird's eye maple thumbhole stock on one and took the bbl length to 18". Looked kind of funny at first but felt great. I'd like to recreate that shotgun some day.
