I have a few PID controllers and SSR for my melting pot and electric kiln.
I just wondered if anyone used them?
    My setup here. lee_4-20.jpg

I took a pic when I got the new pot and built the controller in early 2015.

I love PID setups. Seattle and I have to finish our curing oven...

I also want to build a Sous Vid cooker for some steaks using a PID.

only way to go if you got the $$.
Edit: They aren't that much, unless you cast on a budget. Mine is for the pot, oven for HiTek or PC. Get a good probe, the cheap ones don't last long.

The PID controller on my Big Green Egg has made my life smoking meats so much easier.
Melting metals should be similar, though temps are higher.

    :)

The advanced math that enables the PID (proportional–integral–derivative) controller is, quite fortunately, silently working in the background with nary a hint of the
complexity, though the calculus involved is quite fascinating if you are into that sort of thing.

Around 700 degress F is higher than I would cook meat!!!!!

When My melt pot finally stabilizes it swings about 15 degrees under and 15 degrees over the set temp before I shut it down (a hundred or more cast boolets).

I think it might get more exact if it stayed on for longer?? (learned the temp??)
