I used nail polish sparingly and patience and attention when drying/scubbing clean.

    Occasionally takes a second coat.

Nice......I have been thinking Testors model paint and nail polish remover for clean-up......hesitant to pull the trigger.

I have a Spikes Snowflake lower that I am thinking of doing like the factory color-filled version and a Trump lower that I want to do the hair in yellow.

One bit of insurance is that if things go bad you can get heavy with the remover and just clean it all off and start over.

Ive seen some guys use Testors. Bout the same as nail polish I think.

The trick is actually to NOT be too aggressive. Gotta let the paint dry but not too much. I used nail remover pads, gotta really keep things flat when your rubbing. Use remover sparsely. It all takes a bit of trial and effort to get used to.

The real trick is to try to leave ENOUGH in the grooves...lol. And when applying, try to keep it in the grooves with a toothpick or the like. Dont put a big ole glob out there to clean up. Remember you can always go back a second time.

(gotta be some OOC in there somewhere...:green: )

Kinda fun to play around with, just for a little change of pace. I didn’t really do anything outlandish; just highlighted a couple of slide engravings. Made for a little visual ‘personal touch’ to an otherwise mundane pistola.

Did it a few years ago; think I recall I used Testors white or silver and it took a couple of coats. As has been pointed out, if you botch it, just use some thinner or remover and start over.

This a Runner Runner Texas Flag lower that I might or might not have owned.

White nail polish and remover on a paper towel. Tried to add the flag colors but it kept oozing into the grooves and looked like crap so I gave up. I did finish the engravings after the pictures

I used testor red enamel to make the F marking red again on my Danish P210. Came out looking good and hasnt worn off yet.

Used a toothpick like others suggested.

I've used fine point paint/enamel pens before.

    Like these

    611jE7VFdgL._AC_SY400_.jpg

There are other brands and also detail brushes but those get expensive for good ones. Cheap brushes and detail work like that will drive you mad.

Anyways experiment with the pens first to determine how fast they flow. A 2nd pass is easier than re doing. There is less clean up this way.

You can even clear coat the enamel, if you use quality enamel to start with, and it will stand up to solvents longer.

I used an industrial white paint stick
    Like a big crayon
Works great and you wipe off the excess
The paint fills the lines and dries hard

Was always curious about using a fine hypodermic needle to fill the recesses. Anyone ever try this method?

Something like an insulin syringe. Use magnification to be able to see and use the syringe to inject paint into the recesses of the engravings.

I used Testors paint. Clean the area with as high a quality Isopropal alchohol or clear un-scented nail polish remover. Tape off was much as you can, apply as little as possible and clean good with clear non-scented finger nail polish remover on a folded paper towel after it dries. Change the part of the paper towel you are using frequently.
    Works great.

I did some ARs for some people. I personally don’t care to see the billboards on the sides of firearms.
I used long thin tipped artist brushes and the hypo needle. One Shot pinstripers paint.

I used white acrylic paint from WM. Got the info from YouTube. Just blot it over the area and rubbed in with Q-Tip. Wipe off excess with damp paper towel. Just recently did it so cant say how long it will last, The video said it lasted a long time, whatever that may be... Looks good I think...

I use a white or yellow crayon.
It's not the most durable in the summer heat, but it does last a good while with normal use and is simple to re-apply. Simply rub it in and use a sheet of paper to rub off the excess before I put it back in the safe.

I typically stay away from the paint. I just don't like it. I see too many C&R guns at Pawn Shops with Krylon Finishes and crappy camo jobs.
