While I have a great intrest in 3D printing and have at least a dozen ideas I want to try, but anymore I just dont have the energy to learn how to CAD.

Yeah, it’s definitely something you need to be interested in to sit down and learn. I figure, the more systems I’m familiar with the better since it’s what pays the bills.

For simple stuff TinkerCAD or maybe even Google SketchUp (if still out there) might be easy to pick up without feeling like you’re wearing a boat anchor on your free time.

Oh yeah: Carbon fiber reinforced PLA or PETG w/ a 1.0 or larger nozzle is the only way I'd try to print, and use, a firearm part such as a frame or lower, etc. Those wall display mounts, like the ones pictured above, lasted about 2-3 weeks when I printed the first ones in PLA only. Changed to CF reinforced PLA and the test mounts held 15 lbs hanging on them for 4 weeks with no failure or separations. Good enough for me.

Not printing a benchy boat is like not compiling "Hello World" as your first computer program.

My first print was (an attempt) at a Dillon 1050 tool head stand. I don't think I've ever printed a benchy, either. Makes no sense for me to print one- our kids are 21 and 25, and fortunately neither have kidlins of their own, yet.

Hell - they're printing bridges and buildings. ZEISS has a tech center at Oak Ridge National Labs near Knoxville. All the big names in additive are there for the purpose of research and development of additive manufacturing techniques and material analysis. The titanium printing technology is crazy. Additive manufacturing is changing the world. I'll bet we'll see parts machining become obsolete in my lifetime...and I'm old...
We have been 3D printing medical implants for some time now. You ‘may’ have one in your body if you’ve broken a bone or have a total hip.

Upgraded hot end/part cooling. Also a good example of what can happen if you dont print stuff in their intended orientation. Luckily, this one just has that little bugaboo on the fan flange. Easily salvageable.

That was definitely my best upgrade for the Ender 3. Made a huge difference in print reliability and repeatability for me
