I avoid iTunes like the plague. Haven’t been on it in years.

For a computertard like me, I never could figure out how to navigate it.

Yeah... I suppose that would work if you don't mind Apple having every bit of information that resides on your Apple devices. Personally I find it repulsive that I can not simply back up "my" data to "my" pc without giving that information away. I've decided to dump the iPad I will manually transfer, as in key the information in again, anything I deem worthy of keeping. I'm going with a

This. I’m 100% Apple in my house and it all backs up to iCloud seamlessly.

Got some new laptops for my kids a few months ago before the demand surged. I still have some older i-7 laptops I might trade for ammo some time.

Thanks but my interest lies in a notebook sized 2-in1. Pretty sure I’m getting a Samsung Galaxy Flex Alpha 2-in-1 with Windows 10 Home o/s.

For those that's "UP" on computers.... Qualifying info then a question.

As stated I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy Flex Alpha 2-in-1 w/Windows. I've found two in stock in the world. There I go exaggerating again... They both come with Windows 10 Home.

One is open box "Certified" and prices out at $665.00 + tax Samsung - Galaxy Book Flex Alpha 2-in-1 13.3" QLED Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 8GB Memory - 256GB SSD - Royal Silver (Open-Box Excellent - Certified)

The other is also a Samsung Flex Alpha 2-in-1.

    Specs. for that one are:

    Samsung - Galaxy Book Flex Alpha 2-in-1 13.3" QLED Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 12GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Royal Silver - $850.00 +Tax

Soooo... one is $665.00 and the other is $850.00 = A $185.00 difference. The most compelling difference I see between the two is the additional 4GB of ram. I've had my iPad Air 2 since just before the earth was created. It came with 16GB storage. I've used 10GB thus far. This Galaxy will be used slightly different because it has a keyboard I will use it more in line with an actual PC rather than the internet access portal that the iPad turned into.

Soooo... we're looking at a difference of $185.00 pretax dollars. That $185.00 gets me a newer/faster processor, 50% more memory and double the storage capacity. In the world of computing I suspect one thing absolutely has not changed. The more ram you have the faster the machine will be. Lot's of memory is also a cure for premature obsolescence.

To me, the more I look at it, it's a no-brainer. Spend the extra $185.00 and be done with it. But it's been awhile since I've messed with buying a computer and it never hurts to get a few more eyeballs on the issue.

Another difference between the two is the $850.00 version is BNIB. I did get my mother a new computer for Christmas one year and bought an "Open Box" one and did have problems. Had to go back to store to get it unlocked as the previous owners password was still in effect. Other that that it's been flawless.

Guess I’ll be shopping soon too. Gave my laptop to one of the grandkids for school. Still have the old Dell desktop for backup though.

The faster CPU, the extra RAM and 2x the storage space is probably worth the price uplift.
And being new, you get the full-term warranty. That's worth something too.

(PS: That 16GB of storage on your iPhone isn't the same thing as the 12GB on the computer... the computer has 512GB of those. Your iPhone probably has 1GB of memory)

I'm a pretty big computer nerd, and I run Windows 10 Home quite happily. I'm not sure what Pro does that I'd want. I don't run a domain at home so I don't need the ability to join one, I don't care about RDP, I don't care about Bitlocker...

Worth it, especially for the memory. I'm surprised at how expensive it is for those specs, tho. I bought a Chrome book with 8GB of ram for $400 back in Feb. It's stupid fast running anything made for Chrome, plus it runs any Linux program fine, too. Kdenlive struggles a bit

I "think" the open box qualifies for full warranty interval as well.

I was aware of the 16GB on the iPad being storage vs ram. I didn't have a clue what kind of ram, or whatever it's call on an iPad, the iPad had/has.

But I do agree the BNIB is the better of the two options. BestBuy's web site kinna stinks as one time it's tell me it's in stock at one store, then it's not, then it is.... then it's available for pickup at a store 22 miles away.... Whut ev'a they don't open until 1pm today so around that time I'll find out who... has what!
