If we have any REAL SHTF situation,

all that ammo in different calibers is unlikely to go with us to wherever. . . . . .

Are we actually going to carry six pistols in different calibers?

Better to have lots in the one or two calibers we are most likely to carry away !

Other than .223/.556, do you have enough ?

Just realized that I told my LEO Son to shoot up a bunch of expensive older defensive handgun stuff, which he said worked perfectly when fired at ranges. Now very low on everything not .45ACP.

    Lesson being learned!

    Y'all take care !

Overall I agree. It is likely prudent to have a couple of basic ammo choices with which several weapons can shoot. Hopefully we don’t have to put that to the test

If I have to leave I am taking a rifle over a pistol although my go to rifle is about the size of a pistol

Main pistol caliber in the house is 9mm, of which we got ... plenty.
Rifle calibers, .223/5.56, 7.62x39, and .308. We got plenty of the first two, and still "OMG it's an arsenal!!!" of the latter.

I'd need a freaking U-Haul to bug out with any of it.

IF, there was a SHTF situation, I'm not going anywhere. I have everything I need right here at home. Food, water, warm comfortable bed to sleep in, roof over my head, and plenty of guns, ammo and toilet paper!

    Yep.

I have three different calibers with rifle & pistol that use the same caliber. Unfortunately I also have a multitude of calibers but if I had to leave (unlikely) I could take one or two calibers with rifles and pistols.
