Hit the 281/1604 (San Antonio) Academy Sunday morning. Thought I would depress myself by not finding any handgun ammo.

    WRONG!!!!!

They had lots of just about every handgun load: including .380!!!!! in both HP and FMJ in their Monarch brand brass. (I paid $14.99 / box FMJ.) Probably had 6 different 9MM, lots of others!!!!!

Limit was 5 boxes per caliber per day.

Could it be that the worst is over.

I also hit Academy in Round Rock... they had plenty of FMJ and JHP .380... Monarch .357 and .38 special... Monarch .45 ACP... and sweet lord a lot of 9mm... I think I agree... I think the drought is ending... all we can do is now wait for the prices to drop down... $14.99 a box for .380 is still a little steep... although I'll pay it just because it's there...

Been to a few Acadmey's today in the DFW area looking for back to school stuff and I too have noticed that they pretty much have everyting in stock for pistol & rifle ammo. Hope the wannabe resellers at the fun shows realize they are selling overpiced Monarch ammo that I can buy any time now.

I've had good luck at Academy lately, buy mostly 9mm and .45 ACP. I generally hit the ones at 410/Vance Jackson (lots of both calibers Saturday nite), 1604/Military Hwy, and 410/Culebra. One I was at recently had a bunch of .380 but it was flying off the shelf as I watched. Might buy something in .380 if I start seeing it more often, been debating about an LCP.

I just got back from the Academy in SE Houston (I45-south & Edgebrook). They've had plenty of handgun ammo lately but never any .380ACP, except for today. They had about 20 boxes of Monarch. I bought 2 boxes of FMJ ($14.99/bx.) & 1 box of HP ($16.99/bx).

I scored some WWB .40 FMJ for $35 per 100-box at the Tomball Academy. That store has been my best bet for ammo for quite a while. The pawn shop down the road on 2920 is usually stocked, but a little pricey.

Was in the Academy in Victoria Saturday and they were fairly well stocked. I haven't seen that much ammo in there for 4 or 5 months. The actually had .22 ammo. Things must be getting caught up from the suppliers.
