I hear ya Bigun, I was actually out today with the AK and found myself struggling. Gonna try and widen the rear sight notch, hopefully it will help..................................it wasn't my idea to get old

yes sir, 75 yards was my "comfort" zone, after that I struggled. Gonna have to look into the optics as well, plus a mount option. My Yugo M70B1 doesn't have a bracket for optics mounting...................................but it does have the grenade launcher

Yeah, unless your AK has a rail it is a bit of a challenge to solidly put an optic on it.

Plenty of old Soviet scopes out there if you do have a rail, or add a more modern optic using a mount.

There are also some good top cover rail systems like the Texas Weapons System's Dog Leg; or others that replace the front handguards to provide stable mount for a scope.

You actually stay back quite a bit. It take a bit of getting used to and a few knocks to the face for some people, but after you figure out were you need to be it works well.

Putting a scope on an AK doesn't compute to me. Same thing goes for scoping a lever action rifle. I have the same vision issues and have moved back into shooting AK's It's going to stay iron sights all the way.

I can get on paper Roger, but i wanna try, and stretch it out.

In full disclosure, it's a Saiga 308. With some decent ammo, I'm sure i can reach out several hundred yards.
