Up to sale today is an absolutely excellent condition Model 1891 Argentine Mauser. This example was made in 1895 (antique) by Loewe as part of the first contract and is in unissued condition. All numbers match, even the cleaning rod.
Bluing is beautiful, there are a couple spots that had light tarnish/rust. Check out the gorgeous fire blue on the trigger and ejector box. The wood is incredibly clean, still has the inspection stamps from the factory which are almost always worn off. This stock has not been sanded or refinished in any way.
Even the screws are still factory staked indicating this rifle has never been taken apart. The bore is absolutely mint, I don't think this was ever fired. The crest has been ground as with 95% of Argentine rifles.

This is the nicest 1891 I have ever seen.

$725 FTF only in Central Texas, can meet within reasonable distance.

Prefer cash but am open to some very specific trades: Colt/S&W 1917 revolver, Portuguese Kropatscheck Rifle/Carbine, Ross Rifle, Spanish 1893 Mauser, Nice Carcano 1891 long rifle

If the crest is ground it has been fired.
Not necessarily, there were certainly some in storage when they were surplussed out that never got used. The crest being ground just means it left Argentine ownership through official sales.

It would have definitely been test fired by the factory and probably receiving arsenal. Again I don't claim to know it never got issued, but I have never seen a cleaner bore on a military rifle.
