I love the romance of those days gone by and the guns those pistolero's carried everywhere. Some were gentlemanly jewelry and others were tools of their trade, on the range or other wise. Just holding one in your hands somehow is a wonderful feeling. IF it could actually talk would be really interesting. There is just so many to choose from of varying quality and some were junk. You know the adage of "hotter than a Two Dollar pistol" and the Saturday Night Special.
Here is one that met with quite a bit of popularity but not seen or spoken about much.
The Remington Model 1875 revolver in .44 Remington. An early one in .44 Rem. the majority are in .45 Colt.

I’ve always liked the way the Remington 1875 has looked!
How well does it handle, and balance? Is it accurate?
The repro 1858 Remington’s that I’ve had have been wonderfully accurate.
I’ve been debating on getting one in .357 Mag, that way I have a common caliber, and fairly easy to get ammo, or get one in .44-40!
    Any suggestions?

Mad John, here are some pics from a gun shop I went into down here in Texas. The shop opened just after WWII, and has been in this location since about 1970. They have more guns on display than they do for sale. Very cool place with a lot of history on display.

That certainly makes my pitiful collection look really PUNY by comparison!
I have never been in retail business or in business for that matter since 1947. When they went into business, so many of what they display cost little to nothing in comparison to today.
Still it is a terrific display and worth seeing no doubt.
I am just an individual collector/historian using only my funds, savings and study for the past 50 or so years one piece at a time.
I cannot ever measure up to that!

Beautiful gun sir. I have a first gen Colt, but a Remington is on my list.
Keep looking, they don't come up very often. Good luck.
All of my Colt revolvers in my limited collection are First Generation or older. I do really like Bisley Models but only have a few in a drawer. I am always on the hunt for A First Gen. Black Powder frame SAA (Pre 1895) six-gun. Tough to find in decent condition. Here is a 4 3/4 inch .45 Colt SAA made in 1883.

If you ever get the chance to handle or fire A Merwin-Hulbert revolver, jump at the chance. They are truly a work of craftsmanship and quality. I occasionally carry a Pocket Model Army revolver Merwin in caliber 1873 Winchester (.44-40 WCF) They come in various calibers and sizes but were expensive in their day. I can show some if anyone cares?
