Looks like it's one of these Ram Line AR-7 25 rd mags...

Not sure if I'd really trust that in a survival rifle!

By the way, while doing my search I did find this!

    I've never seen a AR-7 pistol!

Per this, Ram-Line was in business from the early 80s until 1994...

    And, per this review...

"I have some old Ram-Line 30 round magazines that ARE Reliable and do not take up much space and snap/lock together that when snapped together are shorter than one 25 round magazine. BE sure to use some tape to make sure they do not come apart."

Yeah, it's one of these. I found it a junk pile ($10) at a gun shop with some other stuff. I would use a 10/22 based platform for any "survival" mode. I have dozens of mags from 10, 25, 50, rounders to 100 round drums. PAX

I had one of the pistols back in the early 1980s. My ex-wife was very accurate with it. Fun cheap little shooter.

Is that an AR-7 with an extended mag?
The AR7s. have a poor reputation with feeding issues, which is from folks using the mag as a rest. On mine, I put a strip of sticky backed Velcro on the bottom of the mag well, to keep slight up angle on the feed lips.

I had a short plastic fore arm, that the barrel channel was the same profile as the AR7 barrel, so I hogged out a chunk to allow for the lock nut & notched it to snuggly slide back on the receiver a little, then put Velcro on the barrel and in the fore arm bed. I put another piece on the stock, just behind the wrist, so when you broke it down, you could stick the fore arm to the stock, and stow the rifle as designed.

When assembled to shoot, the rifle is supported in a normal fashion. The set up works good, both mods helped to eliminate/minimize the jam-o-matic aspect. You can just make out the mods in this picture. I built it to throw in the flying machine, in case I had to make a forced landing in enemy territory :), like an Israeli pilot might. PAX

The AR7 is more of a something is better than nothing gun because it packs small and light. I’d fall back on a Ruger 10/22 or a Marlin 60 as a SHTF gun before an AR7.

I have one of those Ramline mags for my old Charter Arms and it works perfectly. Wish I would have bought two.

@echo1 tell me about that one that looks like a Thompson please - is that a 22?
It's a Scott Werks 1927A1 kit on a 10/22 frame. Fake 100 drum but I have GRG drums. The finned barrels are non-existent anymore. Scott retired and isn't making the kits any more. I ran across this one just before the price skyrocketed. PAX
