    an sks for deer hunting ...hmmmm why not if you are the owner of an sks and not anything else use the one you have, they are awesome hog guns when you have a dozen or more hogs in front of you it is nice to have a mag full of ammo to fling at them !
    bad thing is any decent factory sp ammo for them is higher priced than a common hunting round but not by much.

    I have an SKS that I put a Tapco stock on and plan to use it as a pig gun here sooner or later. I've taken it to the range a couple of times, never shot it for accuracy. It seems to be ok at 100 yards but I wouldnt attempt to shoot at anything over that. Not the most accurate rifle in the world but fun to shoot.
