I'm using 125 gr truncated lead cast bullets. So I dug around in the back of the cabinet and drug out a full can of red dot fom 1993.
I've been using bullseye and titegroup powders but, due to current availability, am seriously low on those.
Anyone have any load data for this combo? I find data for 148wc and 158rn but not for 125gr.
    Thanks.
BTW, extrapolating available data is leading me to believe a 3.2 to 3.8 gr charge is what's needed to produce a +-800fps velocity. Which is where I want to be.

It doesn't seem that those bullets and powder go together. If you can't find data for a specific combo there is a reason for it.

It may not be meant to be.

No luck on "Red Dot." None of my reloading manuals have a recipe for what you seek.

There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old & bold pilots.

I have about 20 manuals so you started a real research project! In general, I found a trend that didn't recommend Red Dot in anything below 140 grain bullets. I concur that Lyman 49 has loads for Red dot and light cast bullets. My initial thought was that Red Dot may be too slow for the light bullets but then noted that Red Dot is MUCH faster on the powder burn rate chart than 231 which is popular for .38 special. Go figure.

I don't have a clue why Red Dot isn't more commonly used.
