Better stock up. Just as when we went from R12 to R134a, the newest gen of refrigerants likely wont be as good as what we currently have. The senate just voted to ratify a UN treaty that will phase out current refrigerants by 2033 in favor of more environmental options. Here are the sellouts who sided with the Dems

    • Blunt, Roy (Mo.)
    • Boozman (Ark.)
    • Burr (N.C.)
    • Capito (W.Va.)
    • Cassidy (La.)
    • Collins, S. (Maine)
    • Ernst (Iowa)
    • Graham (S.C.)
    • Grassley (Iowa)
    • Hyde-Smith (Miss.)
    • Kennedy (La.)
    • McConnell (Ky.)
    • Moran (Kan.)
    • Murkowski (Alaska)
    • Portman (Ohio)
    • Romney (Utah)
    • Rubio (Fla.)
    • Sasse (Neb.)
    • Tillis (N.C.)
    • Wicker (Miss.)
    • Young, T. (Ind.)

Wow those idiots don't realize how important a good refrigerant is. Sick of this idiotic Climate Change BS. The Climate has been Changing since there was a climate to change. I read somewhere that the climate was hotter 600 million years ago than it is today. We know for a fact that the planet freezes gets hot over and over.

Dupont made a massive profit after the killing of R12 and R22, both on expired patents.
Now 134A, R407C are on the chopping block. One can only wonder.
Ya I still have a can of the R12 and two cases of the DuPont 134a. Guess I need to get some of whatever the central ac uses just to keep on hand so I don’t get screwed if I ever need an ac guy to top off

Title VI of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 added the Stratospheric Ozone Depleting Chemicals regulations to the EPA's arsenal. It's based on the Montreal Protocol that was signed in order to protect the ozone layer of the atmosphere. Scientists had noticed in the 1980's that there was a hole in the ozone layer that opened up over the earth's magnetic poles. They speculated that it could be caused by chlorofluorocarbons (Freons) in use at the time. Speculated. There is NO EVIDENCE that it actually causes the "Ozone Hole". But, various Freon compounds were prohibited, eventually even including those little asthma inhalers.

So did the Ozone Hole go away. No. It still shrinks and grows and NOBODY KNOWS WHY OR HOW IT WORKS. Banning Freon didn't change a thing. Common sense might have prevailed if anyone asked how the Freon managed to make it up to the ozone layer. Nobody asked and nobody tried to analyze the composition or model the transport. It was good enough that there was a pop-sci "crisis" and the governments of the world responded bravely and theatrically.

Then why on earth are we banning more compounds? Money. Changing compounds will bring millions (maybe billions) into chemical manufacturers coffers.

But, you cry, it's all based on a lie!!

Sadly, most of what actions the government takes are based on lies.
