And don't forget the airfares. Right now American Airlines for direct flight DFW to IND round trip arriving day before and leaving day after will cost $911. Southwest Airlines doesn't have their schedule out that far yet.Wow. The cheapest thing within a mile of the convention is the Hampton Inn for $175/nite + taxes and fees. No matter how far away you're willing to stay, the NRA-rate hotels are ~$150/nite at the cheapest.
I've been to Indianapolis enough times to not want to go back that badly.
Note that the above is sarcasm. I know convention rates are high. It just chaps me that even though the reservations site just opened, all the attached hotels are already unavailable.
Big thanks to DougC for bringing this to the attention of TGT.
I'm relatively sure that's the case. I know that I was very carefully watching the site when the NRAAM was coming to Houston last year. There were never any rooms available to the regular membership in either of the two hotels connected to the convention center. I suspect that between NRA, exhibitors, press, and the seemingly infinite supply of guntubers/influencers, every one of those rooms was accounted for long before the site opened for reservations from us plebes.I suspect NRA, exhibitors and others have already blocked out rooms to ensure attendance before hotel rooms open for public.
