So far as I can tell, these fellas are going to compete with John Cornyn for his seat in the US Senate. I am a fan of Ted Cruz but Sen. Cornyn doesn't impress me much.

    Declared

    • Virgil Bierschwale (U.S. Navy veteran)
    • John Anthony Castro (tax lawyer)
    • John Cornyn, incumbent U.S. Senator (member of swamp)
    • Dwayne Stovall (bridge construction contractor)
    • Mark Yancey (businessman)
Never heard of any till I got a campaign email from Dwayne Stovall:

Any of you folks find someone on the list of challengers a good choice? I like to vote in US Military vets whenever there is any question about who would be the best choice.

They all talk a good game, but 99% of them don't do what they say they will after they get in office...

That's how the Dems took over the House...ran a lot of "moderate" candidates, veterans, ex CIA ect......you know...vote for the person and not the party..............none of them are voting moderate now they are in office...

I don't care for Cornyn either but it's harder to get them out as incumbents....

I rarely, if ever, vote for an incumbent.

Even less so if they demonstrate themself to be opposed to the Constitution.

Cornyn has never demonstrated himself to be worthy of my vote, nor shall he have it in 2020. One of the first things I research for any sitting U.S. Senator or Representative is their view of the “patriot act.” If you seek to deprive us of those liberties taken from that piece of legislation, than surely the rest of my God given liberties are at stake and I consider you an enemy of the people and myself.

Stovall is likely my choice at this point. But, if Cornyn wins the primary, I'll vote for his opponent in the general election. A freshman Democrat will do a lot less damage than Cornyn has and will continue to do....

Given that it is a six year term, and they are notoriously hard to get rid of, I disagree with this premise. I will vote for the libertarian candidate for the reason that if enough people vote libertarian, it sends a message to the republicans, but if there is an increase in communist votes, it sends a message to Bloomberg.

I recently met Mr. Stovall, then did a little research on his political views and campaign promises. I really like him. He believes the states should govern themselves and push the Federal Government back where it belongs and was designed to be by the Constitution.
He seems great from his web site. Also I think I dated his cousin.

I live in Rep Collin Allred’s US District. I heard much of the same thing from him prior to the the impeachment vote. These folks will tell us what we want to hear. Allread struggled before voting for no evidence impeachment in Polosi minute. B S. Your Socialist rookie will kill every Conservative Senator put up by a Republican President and that vote lasts for many years. I would hope you would reconsider the entire effect.

And that line of thought is part of what got Virginia where they are at the moment.
I don't like Cornyn but I would rather have a center left Republican than any kind of Democrat.

Those that think voting for a non-Republican senator from Texas need to be prepared to give up all of their guns and start researching now an alternative country to live in. This country is going to hell with the democrats elected to the House from Texas (such as Al Green).

Cornyn might or might not be the best one running but the question is What Republican Can Win? Don't be stupid and throw your vote away. A libertarian vote is a wasted vote. You may feel better but you will be electing a Beto clone to office.

I will probably vote for Stovall in the primary. I will not vote for someone who has consistently voted to give government more control over my life, nor will I vote for someone who is running on a platform of giving the government more control over my life.
If the libertarians throw up a Gary Johnson/Bill Weld type candidate, I will not vote for them either.

The issue is not a second amendment issue alone. The total vote count in the Senate is the ke issue. The only bar to the socialist take over in this county is the current majority in the Senate. The candidate to survive the primary process will be the candidate that will face a seriusly liberal Democrat. 1) Tzintzún Ramirez is campaigning on "Medicare for All," a Green New Deal and a mandatory buyback program for "assault weapons".
    2) MJ Hegar who will stradle the middle having learned a lesson running for the House .
    3) State Sen.R. West of Dallas and Houston City Councilwoman Amanda Edwards, have stopped short of backing mandatory buybacks, only going as far as to support an assault weapons ban.
    4) Bell is one who supports mandatory "buybacks" of "assault weapons".

So to balance the issue with Texas becoming more of a Blue state after O'Rourke nearly taking Cruz down: These Demos above are the most likely candidates to run against Cornyn.
I think McConnell has done more damage than Cornyn ever has. Voting for a Democrat just because Cornyn has voted for some dumb things will guarantee that Democrats will take over.

That statement could not possibly be more wrong.

    A shallow and immature approach.

    Absolutely correct.

California was solid red until folks started voting third party and “alleged conservative democrats”. It turned purple and is now solid progressive-blue because they’ve changed the rules after taking over and now six major cities run the entire state via their total voting numbers. I escaped after it fell beyond redemption. I definitely do not want Texas to turn purple on it’s way to a solid blue voting state.

If you dislike how Cornyn is voting then start a letter, phone, and personal visit campaign with like minded folk to pressure him to change his voting patterns. Keep pressuring incumbent republicans to whittle down the federal bureaucracy, to vote for constitutionalist judges, to end political corruption, and to support the USA First Agenda.

This will result in Cornyn changing his voting pattens or his retirement from office. Either action will not support the progressive agenda.
