Kind of like Toby Keith's bar,
We got winners, we got losers
    Chain smokers and boozers
And we got yuppies, we got bikers
    We got thirsty hitchhikers
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm I love this place

So, October 10th is our semi-annual family reunion at Texas Star Shooting Range in Kempner, TX, just outside the greater Killeen/Copperas Cove/Ft Hood metroplex.

    Why You Should Come
First and foremost, Texas Gun Talk is what it is because we make an effort to do face to face events. This and the Spring Family Reunion are our forum-wide social and shooting events. Some folks you'll meet for the first time, others you'll get a chance to catch up with.
    • There will be a door prize for the first 24 people to arrive and sign in with the range.
    • There will be some additional giveaways; no purchase needed.
    • Potluck lunch; there'll be a separate thread for that and it you want to head that effort up (it's really easy), let me know.
    • Opportunity for competitions if someone wants to head that up
    • Shooting, lots of shooting.

    Range Rules

This is a lot of info and is readily available here and in post #2.
    Range Amenities
    • There is an area for people to camp. Call ahead to verify.
    • Pizza is not normally delivered to this range.
    • The berm is at NRA standards. It's wide/strong enough to drive a bulldozer on top of and it's 20 ft tall. You'll notice the dirt behind the targets is different from the main berm itself. The dirt behind the targets is rock free to help prevent ricochets. Also, they are constantly maintaining the berm so we should have zero issues with it.
    • TSSR is insured and has a document stating so at the front desk.
    • TSSR has a general first aid kit on-site as well as a bullet wound kit. On top of that, the owner and manager are both formally trained in treating bullet wounds. As an absolute worst case scenario, there is an area designated for a medical airlift and the range has a number directly for the local airlift.
    • The classroom is reserved, but we may need to give it back if there's enough demand for an LTC class that day.
    • They have two restrooms.
    • There is an archery area so feel free to bring out your crossbows.
    • The skeet area uses a variable range thrower. You won't know where the clay is going until it's already out. Think you're good?? Step on up!
    • Class III is allowed - bring your paperwork, have it on you.
    • The range accepts cash or plastic. There are snacks, ammo, targets, and holsters for sale in the main lobby.

    What Else You Should Know
    • Keep an eye open for other threads to pop up; usually there's a Buy/Sell/Trade thread, Potluck sign up thread, etc., if you don't see a thread on a something you're interested in doing at the Reunion, feel free to start one.
    • Cost for all this goodness: $10 - TGT Discount. Normal fee is $15. Please let the front desk know you're with TGT to receive discount.
    • If you have questions pertaining to rules, or how to get there then go ahead and send it. Otherwise, lets keep this one for people checking in. If you're coming, please let me know along with any visitors you plan on hauling in. The more people, the better!

Yep, it’s not Hicksville, but it is their range, their money invested in a lot of upgrades over the last couple of years and their rules.

I don’t think we’ve ever had an issue with anything we’ve wanted to do at the range either.

    Yep.

And even all of those rules don’t cover all of the stupid I have seen at public ranges!

    I'm in.

I was there last week. No mask required inside or out.
Whether that will Hold for a large gathering I have no way of saying.
IF there is a mask requirement, I would most likely expect to see it indoors if we use the meeting room for lunch. Given State and local orders, if you expect it, it won't be a disappointment. And a possibility of being pleasantly surprised.

    I’m in.

Anyone know if they are enforcing masks? Not that I’ll wear one but would prefer to know if I’m driving a couple of hours to get sent home.

Throw a mask or a gaiter in the range bag or above the visor just in case.
