1911 Builder Kits?

Today in The American Rifleman, I noticed Sarcoinc is selling 1911 Builder kits. It looks like everything is there but the receiver. It looks like an interesting project. Anyone familiar with this kit? I don't have a usable receiver. Is there a good legal source for receivers for these kits?

I’ve also seen stripped 1911 receivers on GunBroker.

A lot if them but alot of them are on back order or no longer produce them but they are there.

Just popping in to help. 1911s have "frames." That term will help you find what you seek faster.

I’ve built a few of them. There was a time when most of the parts in the kit were auto ordnance surplus. The end result using a builders kit would be a pistol of about rock island quality.
They’re a good learning experience if that’s what you’re after. If you’re wanting to save some money you’d have a better pistol for less $ by buying a lower end Springfield or rock island and installing a good barrel like an Ed Brown with matched bushing.
Caspian arms sells off their blemished frames under the foster industries name. The standard govt frames are about $225 when available. You’ll still need to lap the slide to the frame which takes a lot of time but is a good porch activity.

I'd rather choose a 1911 using model numbers rather than one built from parts lists.

At my age I'm not going to tackle disassembly and rebuild of a motor.
