I caught a big deer in my navigator and insurance decided to total it. So, I stated looking for a replacement.
Dayum they're expensive. So, looking for a pickup...... almost as much and harder to find. Most dealers in my area only have a couple or a few new vehicles. I finally found something I like in Beeville.... on order with a 30-day expected delivery.

This NOT a good time to be trying to buy, but don't want to pay new price for used truck either.

They can't keep up with demand due to electronics shortage. Even used is in demand nowadays.

They try telling people to buy electric. Check out the wait times on those.

If you can wait a while, then order one. Pop got a deal through Costco at $500 off MSRP but it did not include in stock vehicles and had to be ordered. This was on a 2022 Tahoe, so I suspect a truck would be similar.

My guess is if Biden was suddenly replaced by Trump (as if by magic overnight), the U.S. car makers would stop depending on China or India (Ithink that is anoither one) for computer chips for cars and a company or three or more would start making them here in great numbers and the vehicle shortages would go away. One can dream I suppose; I hate having to wait two years to oust Biden and Harris and replace them with a real president and VP who want to see America prosper and for me to see a car at a reasonable price again.

All the new trucks in the future will either have a very small, turbocharged engine (repairs=$$$$$), or will be electric. (Yeah, I threw up a little just typing it.) The government is pushing things that way and at the moment they seem unstoppable.

Meanwhile, supplies are low, costs are high.

Oh, yeah, and some of the vehicles come with features disabled because they can't get the chips from China to make all the goodies work. See, the chip manufacturers want the car companies to use newer chip designs, but the car makers want to continue using the designs they already have. It's the equivalent of a pair of 3-year olds fighting over their toys, but on a global scale.

The 1920's were the Roaring 20s. The 2020's are the puking 20's.

Bought new in December '20. Usually buy used but they went from $20k off with 20k miles to $5k off with 60k miles. That was before the current crunch got real bad.

My new one is worth $5k more than I paid with 20k miles on it according to KBB. It can sit in my driveway though because it's a back up for my work truck that I may not be able to find parts for if needed.

Like stated above, find an honest dealer and order if you need one and can wait.

Several places I looked are charging over MSRP. That's crazy.
I have X-Plan, but the only places that accept that don't have any stock. Duh. I feel pretty good about getting MSRP with 30-day delivery. It's a crazy market
30 day delivery at MSRP is good in this market. I know several who have ordered and it's taken 4 months. Plus some dealers are charging 5 digits over msrp.

The worst part is for the entry price of $50,000 + markup, you get the pleasure of driving a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder turbo'd pickup that drives on 2 wheels.

    No thanks!
