Was on a another forum and the topic went off the rails (sound familiar?) when someone asked for a recommendation on a concealed carry accessories.

I had to respond to this post:

Because when you aren't defending yourself (99.999999999% of the time) they are just so much fun. There used to be a video (since taken down due to PC pressure) about someone that took a bunch of anti-gun people to the range and let them play with guns. Guess what, even those who said they still wouldn't buy one said they had fun. There are approximately 390 million guns in the US. If guns were responsible for killing people then the the entire population of the US would already be gone. Responsible gun owners are not the problem.

There are quite a few videos of people who are anti-gun, and the vast majority of them don't have a clue.

I gave up trying to convert any them years ago. Too many lies that they believe, and for the most part they function from emotion, not common sense. You just can't reason with such people.

Two people are intentionally killed. One is killed with a gun, the other a car. They consider the gun evil, but not the car.

How can you reason with such rationale? Simple, you can't. So why waste the time or energy trying.

The only thing that will “convert” someone is being the victim of a violent crime and being powerless to do anything about it while they or a family member is savaged and all they can do is watch or ride it out.
Taking leftists to the range in an attempt to “bring them into the light” is simply training your enemy on how to use the tools to kill you. It also gives them info for when a ban of some type gets enacted to get a pat on the head from their masters for being good communists when they turn you in.

Get it out of your minds that they are anything different.

Could it be "Someone" was recently at a public range & seen first hand the increase in gun owners who really lack any training or knowlage of guns? Could it be it scared the bejebus out of him after being swept numerous times? And what about acidental discharges, especial right next to him?

Reminds me of years ago, checking out Type II hunting land. Seemed like a great place to return to to recycle all the booze bottles & cans. Blaze orange clad morons who just pick up their new deer rifle not knowing it was not sighted in. Idiots so thick, that accidents are bound to happen.

Often first hand owners are okay with some very tactful suggestions on gun safety. And often even on usage.

Obviously, the lawyers in St. Louis never had a class. The woman was waving her walther around with her finger on the trigger. The husband was just waving his AR around.

Definitely no trigger discipline! But, no where in the 2nd Amendment does it say only those who have had proper gun training may have the right to keep and bear arms.

I did not say a word about denying someone their rights.

I am referring to what happens when people discharge firearms without following the basic rules of firearm safety. If one (or both) of the lawyers had fired their weapon, they really would have been in trouble. If they had shot someone, they would have been lucky if they only lost their life savings.

Other people have killed friends or family members by not following the basics. While proper training and following the basics, does not guarantee a lack of unintentional discharges. However, training and following the basics reduces the risk of shooting something or someone a person does not intend to shoot.

So are you are asserting that only those with proper training are allowed to discharge a firearm to defend themselves?

In no way am I against proper training in the safe handling of guns, but that isn't a requirement of owning, bearing or using a firearm since it's a right protected by the 2nd Amendment.

And last I checked, the only relevant matter is whether they used the firearms in a legal manner. Even if they had shot someone that was threatening them. That should be the only relevant factor.

One of the best things we can do as responsible gun owners and advocates for the 2A is to take non-gun-owners and anti-2A types to the range. You will make more converts that way in a single fun afternoon than in a lifetime of political arguments.

No you won’t. You will be teaching communists how to use the tools to kill you.

Etmo, I use to think that way some years ago, but my perspective has changed with the current political environment. My thought process is much closer to Hoji's now.

If they are merely fence sitters, or those that just have never desired to own a gun before, yes I agree. Many times some of those can be shown the way if you take the time to show them about guns, and teach them how to shoot, and how they have been lied to about guns, can be moved to our side. But true, dyed in the wool anti-gunners, I just would not waste my time, energy, or breath in trying to reach them, or teach them in the use of tools they can use against us.

Let's assume this is true. Those communists want to kill us all, and they want to use guns.

So it comes time to vote, and one of the measures on the ballot is some anti-gun measure. Let's say something like no ARs allowed in Texas...some assault weapons ban. How will your communists vote on that ballot issue?

They will vote to outlaw them. They know that those laws will not apply to them anyway, as has been shown with all of the communist rioting, looting, assault etc that has been happening for the last month.

Tell you what. Let us know the next time an untrained person is going to be in their position. We can make sure they get proper training BEFORE the event and then they won't be criticized when they successfully avoid problems.

Let us know who to train and where.
