Just got an email advertisement for shirts and this was one of the pics in it:

While I don't usually have a drink this early in the day, I do decide to rarely have one this early or even for breakfast with bacon or steak & eggs now and again (maybe three or four times a year with breakfasts and the same or a couple more days just early). Anyway, saw the pic and I figured why not especially since I had been laying off the booze quite a bit because I had that Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever crap and more recently because I've been taking pain meds and a steroid for the rt. hip. In other words, today was about time to have one or three and to ahve them early (then take an early nap maybe).

It took a few moments to decide whether to go for an Erdinger Hefe Weiss Bier (smooth, tasty and not too strong - a German wheat bier with yeast), a Spaten Premium Lager (simply one of the best lagers on earth and one of the best, if not the best, of all the German Lagers), a Samuel Adams Octoberfest (one of the few, if any other, Samuel Adams beers I will drink, it's a decent Marzen), or a Val-Dieux Triple Belgian Abbey Ale (delicious, large at 1 pt. 9.4 fluid ounces, fairly strong at 9% ABV and the only true Belgian abbey ale I can find in Texarkana).

It came down to me deciding to crack open the Samuel Adams Octoberfest - that way I'll save the better ones and the one stronger one until some later date (like Thanksgiving with my son). By the way, that was also a reward for me finishing the hibernaculum on my tortoise enclosure today; that deserved a bit of a reward.

Not a bad choice, it's YUMMY!

Just bought a blender, a basic one, not one of those fancy food processor monsters. All I need or want it for is to mix drinks (either with or without alcohol). For starters, this evening, I threw a goodly combination of ingredients into it: half a mango (the other half did not look to good), a half ripe banana, a handful of blackberries, a handful or two of blueberries, maybe three quarters to a cup of OJ, half a cup of tart cherry juice, some coconut cream, a long squirt of lemon juice, same of lime juice. To that I added: 5 ounces of Sailor Jerry spiced rum, 1.5 ounces of white rum, 1.5 ounces of Barbados gold rum, and 2 ounces of 120 proof white rum. Then I blended that for a bit and then threw in a few handfuls of ice and turned it onto the ice crush mode. Man is it ever so delicious and it it was not for the booze, it would probably be healthy for me too. Who knows, maybe there still is some health benefit from all that fruit regardless of the booze.

One thing to keep in mind if you ever drink something like this, you may not realize you are getting sloshed until it is too late - it tastes like a thick fruity punch (a smoothie, I think, is what they call it nowadays). It does not taste very strong but I am on my third 12 ounce glass of it now and am well passed just starting to get looped. Going to sleep better, if not very well, tonight.
