Had a maker replace a gun for me some years ago. It was a current model but improved. They kept my original and stamped the new one with the same serial number. Mailed it directly to me. the maker went out of business less than a year later. Errors like rails that fall off will hurt a company into oblivion. The company was Grendal, They had great customer service.

Taurus called me yesterday to tell me that the Model 82 was still on back order waiting for more to be shipped in from Brazil and would I accept an 856 snub nose instead.
I gathered they wanted to resolve this quickly and were looking for a quicker way to ship me a gun and close the matter.

As bad as I don’t want a Taurus, I really didn’t want a snub nose, thinking that the 4” would at least be more useful to someone as a practice gun.

This will end up taking 6 months I bet.

The first .357 I ever had was a Taurus.......bought in CA while I was stationed at Ft. Irwin. Somehow that thing got trapped under a tire while out shooting in the desert. Sent back to Taurus and promptly replaced with a new one. YMMV but in 1990......I was impressed with their service.

    Yep, I had a 6” 357 back in the early 90s.
    Pretty decent gun.
It’s the only other one I’ve owned except for a PT99 Beretta clone I had for a short while

IIRC, a different S/N requires shipping through an FFL? Been a while, I could be wrong on that.

I sent a Savage Axis to the factory because the scope mount holes were drilled wrong and wouldn't line up with the mounts. Someone crossthreaded 2 screws trying to get them in. Savage sent me a new rifle with a different SN as a replacement. Abt 2 years ago.

Maybe you didn’t read the thread?
I’m not getting the Rossi gun back , they are keeping it and shipping me a similar Taurus model to replace it.
They would have shipped the snub nose model yesterday if I would have agreed to it.

I'm not getting my Rossi back either. They're shipping me a Taurus instead. I've been waiting longer than 6 months for the Taurus they're supposed to replace it with.

I got my new Taurus Model 82 today. Had to pay $15 transfer fee to the same damn store that sold me the Rossi that turned out defective.
So now went 5 months without the gun I bought and liked and paid $15 to receive a gun that I didn’t want in it’s place. I really came out on top of this deal.

I’ve already listed it for sale on a local site, got one nibble, I’m confident the deal will fall through...

Taurus paid for the ffl fee when I had a recall. Ask and demand it.

Holy necropost. They returned or replaced your warranty claim? Wow.

Yeah Taurus sent me a replacement gun after 5 months

The sons a bitches that sold me the defective Rossi is the same store that Taurus sent my new gun to yesterday I went there to pick it up and fill out the 4473.
I ask them what they would give me for it if I traded it for another gun they had in the store and they insulted the crap out of me with a low ball or all low balls.

So then, just to make it really good for me..they charged me a $15 plus tax transfer fee to pick up a gun that I didnt want or buy, after they sold me the Rossi that I had to send back that they sold me in the first place

I ended up putting the new Taurus on a local buy /sell page and did a trade today for the Glock
I gave the guy with the Glock $200 plus the Taurus

Let me just start by saying ..damn.

Within the past 3 years I bought 2 Rossi revolvers just to keep around the ranch for fun. One was an 8 shot 22lr... great gun for small critters and its been fun.
    The 2nd was a 4” 38 Special, blued.
I found it a pawn shop, new for around $300 and it had a butter smooth action and thought it would be a good training gun for teaching my wife to shoot revolvers.
It was fun and I shot it a lot at the gun range with no issues.

Sometime ago, pretty sure it was on TGT, I found out that certain Rossi revolvers had a safety recall.
Went to the recall webpage and put in the serial numbers and found that the 38 was under recall.

I filled out the forms online and they sent me a FedEx label so back in Jan or Feb I boxed it up and sent it off.

I never heard anything so I started rattling the cage a little and got a call back today from a Georgia area code.. Brazetech....Taurus...

They said they had the gun and inspected it and is was “non -repairable “
Whatever that means....They said they can’t send it back and said they would like to offer a settlement of a new replacement revolver...
It’s a take it or leave it thing..I’m guessing so I said sure..

Turns out they are sending me a factory new Model 82 Taurus..
    That’s right.. a damn Taurus..
I heard that Rossi sold to them sometime back.. and I don’t like the brand, but I figure I can either keep it and use it like I did the Rossi or just sell the damn thing..

So, all the jabbing I’ve done over the years has come back to haunt me..
    Damn the luck....lol

I would not be so quick to put down the Taurus revolvers. I have several and have never had a problem with any of them. Now their semi-autos, with the exception of the 99, is another story. Check out the history of the company. You may be surprised to learn that they are not just "copies" of S&Ws and Berettas. Also, when they were a sister company of S&W, the technology that flowed north helped S&W stay afloat.
