I've fired the Glock too and it just didn't cooperate with my hands. Ripped up my thumb and web somehow. So I've always had an aversion to Glocks since then. But I played around with some more Glocks recently and they didn't seem so bad.
    Thanks for the advice!

    Welcome!

That’s called “Glock Bite” and easily remedied with an add on beaver tail.
all the newer Glocks come with them (Gen 4-5’s)

Generally happens on compact and subcompact models to guys with “gorilla mitts”.. You got big hands? Try a larger Glock 17/22/21

My PPQ is the very last pistol I would ever sell if I had to. Outstanding pistol

The VP9 is very high quality too

    Howdy and welcome to TGT.

As you can see/read, you get lots of advice here. Some good, some bad and some so-so.
For me, the Glock 22 gen 4, mine's a 40 not a 9, but it came with 2 back straps and with my big hands, I had to use 1 and have no issues with getting my hands torn up.

Good luck with whichever gun you choose.

Don't spend 1k on a pistol to start. The best striker fired pistol I ever have owned was 326 dollars with tax. Research a lot and shoot as much as you can before buying. It sucks to buy a gun and hate it.
C'mon! Just come out and say it. We know you want to tell him to check out a Canik.

I don’t think you can find a $350 Canik today...

Welcome, and welcome to the addiction.

Walthers are good guns. I had a .40 P99 - I would've liked the 9mm better. I've only owned a couple guns in .40 that I didn't hate. I'm a 9 or .45ACP fan myself. IF you want a .40 - check online and see if you can find a police trade in Sig P229 - they can / could be snatched up for under $500 from a lot of retailers. Great guns and one of the few .40s I don't hate.

Really good to know! I don't have particularly large hands. But the Glock I played with at the shop was a custom 17 with a shaved down grip to a 19 profile. It was pretty sweet. I'll have to revisit that as a possibility.

If you buy a Glock, make sure it’s pretty much either stock or has minor add/replace type modifications like sights and such.

I suggest avoiding any frames that were Dremmeled, cut, or stippled.

Any Glocks that have not had any frame or slide work done will be covered by Glock for warranty repairs
