Greetings all! Excited to be here. I've been a knife enthusiast and frequented the knife forums a lot, but never had the blessing from the Mrs. to own a gun. With things changing I'm looking to make my first firearm purchase soon but demand is so high right now. I just missed out on a PPQ .40 S&W for $300 at my local shop by 10 minutes! Done a lot of research on the VP9 so I'm hoping that will be my first purchase.

Good to be here and thinking this is going to be a major time suck on this forum! :P

    Howdy and welcome to TGT.

Just remember it dont matter if you have 6 shooter, a semi auto pistol, lever action or a evil BLACK GUN the left will try to come after them one by one with regulations. Dont let the media fool you about how many bullets your gun needs to hold. All gun owners need to stick together for our 2A rights.

The VP9 is a nice pistol. Stick with quality firearms. The really cheap stuff comes with problems you don't need.

One thing about a pistol is that you need to spend some serious time learning how to shoot it. In the movies it's all "point and click", but in real life, there is a lot of discipline that is needed if you expect to hit where you want to hit. Also, because of the relatively short barrel, it can be easy to accidentally shoot yourself or someone nearby while you are handling the pistol. Find a gun range, spend some time there. Take lessons - formally or informally from someone who has experience.

    Welcome to TGT!

Have you fired that weapon you’re interested in? You may not like the way it fits in your hand. Or the way it handles. Or... Not saying it won’t, it may be absolutely perfect for you.

Gun stores may not have much for sale right now but I bet they still have them to shoot. Pick out several you might like and go shoot them. Pick out a few opposite of those and shoot them too. Again, staying away from lower tier as much as you can. Just what works for someone else may not work for you.

Welcome aboard. Thats a really good price on the Q. Nice shooting gun too.

Yeah super bummed I missed out on it. Had a friend that was a 9mm proponent so discouraged me from pulling the trigger on it. Then when I went back today to pick it up, it was being sold. Such is life.

I've fired several HKs in the past, but never the VP9. I've fired the Glock too and it just didn't cooperate with my hands. Ripped up my thumb and web somehow. So I've always had an aversion to Glocks since then. But I played around with some more Glocks recently and they didn't seem so bad. But when I played around with the PPQ and a Sig P320, wow. And I've been obsessing over the VP9 since they've come out, but guns were never in the picture until now. But I should definitely shoot one sometime while they're hard to find.

    Thanks for the advice!
