'Barista' - A dorkish name for someone who pours coffee and fetches pastry.

That one annoys me more than vp for a bank clerk or artist for a sandwich maker.

When are hamburger slingers gonna get a new, higher profile name?

Some will probably think they deserve to be called a chef!
Those guys that call themselves pilots should get off their high horses. Accountants, too, since all they are doing is stuff competent kids who learn math should be able to do. Carpenters... I mean, we should universally demean everyone, right?

What about RC pilots? Are they really pilots? I mean, c'mon. I used to fly the things but I was never a pilot.

Many profession these days are nothing like they were many years ago. The titles are just a holdover from a different era.

Accountants? Most of them use computers and programs to run accounting these days. Some math, and more knowledge of computers is all that's needed.
Carpenters? I'd venture a guess, there are probably very few real honest to goodness carpenters left anymore. Most people couldn't afford a real carpenter to build them something.

I could go on, but you get the picture. I have seen a lot of this change over the past twenty years or so.

    Somewhere in Texas!
    garbage man = sanitation engineer

I do not care what they are called, if that person takes pride in what they do, how they do it and do it to the best of their ability.

Carpenters, well today's cheap Mexican, Honduran whatever Central American country they originate from are really very shitty at framing homes. Rafters do not butt together properly, no checking for crowning in lumber, hell they cannot even rough out a door opening the correct width. Just f*cking terrible, slap shit together workmanship. To lazy to cut sheathing to proper length is one of my pet peeves, overlapping the slab at door openings so the jamb cannot be set plumb, and framing out beyond the edge of the slab, shit run a tape, cut the damn boards to proper length... ughhhh... makes me frustrated real American carpenters have been replaced with this shitty, slip-shod garbage.

Yep, I don't care that corporate gives them the "sandwich artist" title - they probably hate that they *have* to say it, because a secret shopper will report if they don't and they could get penalized for it. I guess its better than calling them a chef, they're not actually cooking anything you so you can't call them a line cook - they're not a waitress or server, so what do you call 'em?

And unless you're as unlucky as Axxe and they hock a loogie in your sammich - at least at Subway you see what they do to your food. There are specific locations of fast food joints I will *not* venture to, because I've seen specific employees do some nasty things (scratch their cock & balls then handle food without washing first, for example) or the employee is a known nasty person who has bragged about tampering with food before. A former friend of mine had a cousin the same age as us, we all went to school together. Cousin was a flamer and worked at mcdonalds, and boasted about more than once adding "special sauce" to the special sauce on the Big Macs he schlepped. He was a sick enough fucker that it could've been true.

One of the other reasons I like places like Chipotle and Q'Doba is that they're prepping your food in front of you. You see the dudes behind them cooking the cooked food, and the burrito folders or bean sloppers or whatever you want to call them are only putting what you ask on your plate or in the tortilla.
