1st off I need to say that I've never been well versed in gun talk so most abbreviations & slang will prolly sound kinda like Chinese algebra to me. I know, I know... damn rookie lol. I've only ever owned shotguns basically for home defense & never even been a hunter. I'm REALLY behind on prepping for this upcoming "zombie apocalypse" lol.

Bro-n-law has custom built Sig AR Pistol 300 Blackout with a binary trigger, absolute BEAST. He has about $1,100 altogether in it but now it'll cost closer to around $1,400 as prices have gone up. I'm looking to get something comparable but can really only spend about half that. Also, I can't remember what he about a certain selection to be able to shoot 3 different types of ammo. Any suggestions?

Are you looking for an AR pistol on a budget?

Normally, I’d say buy a complete upper and assemble the lower, then mate the two.

With any AR pattern lower, most caliber changes are an upper swap...pull two pins is the most work needed.

Look at Palmetto State Armory (PSA) for a starting point.

I’m a fan of the 300BLK pistol, but there’s a premium on the cartridges. A 5.56 pistol will work fine for most purposes and you can shoot either 5.56 or .223 thru it just fine. The .223 Wylde chamber reportedly offers the best of both worlds, but I can’t speak from experience on that one.

Thx man, glad to be here!! Hoping I can learn some things, Lord knows I need to lol

    Welcome to TGT.

Granted, you could put together an AR, or even an AR pistol for about half the cost of the Sig, but probably not with Sig parts and not in 300 Blackout either.

Right now, prices are a bit higher due to the confounded politics and other drama going on. But, still possible. Just be an informed consumer. Find something that doesn't seem right, jump in here and ask questions. Plenty of very informed and very smart members that have answers. Don't be afraid to ask a question, regardless of how silly it may seem. Everyone has to start somewhere.

There are several websites that sell all the components or or upper and lower assemblies to do what you want. Whether you hit your target price is another story. The supply right now is spotty at best and you may have to take what you can get.
Decide on the caliber and barrel length you want. Whether you want to build it or buy upper and lower assemblies. Check what sites sell them. When you find what you want, buy it, don't wait. What is there in the morning may be sold out tonight. I have seen that a lot lately with helping some friends and family do builds.

If you want to spend less for a pistol style weapon that shoot's 223,Kel-Tec makes the PLR-16 pistol. I've had one for years, don't get shot much,it's the loudest damn gun in the world. It's even loud with a suppressor attached to it.

Well i don't need to wear 2 sets of earplugs lol. After some REALLY quick researching & without actually askin anyone besides Google, I'm thinkin I'll at least look into a 9mm AR. Ammo is cheaper & I already have 2 Taurus 9mm so can can just use what I have till I can grab more. Any objections to 9mm AR for home defense with the right ammo?
