I open carry most of the time. A guy in line in front of me in CVS today had a pretty two-tone 1911 in a belt slide holster with no jacket. I had my gun at 4 o'clock, no cover. No one in there, or McDs, or Stripes, or any of a dozen other places I visit regularly seems to even notice that there's anything on my belt.

I generally just pull out my shirt and cover the pistol when I walk into HEB. At a posted medical facility, the gun goes in the trunk before I leave the house and I put it back on as soon as I get back to the car. This occasions some funny looks at various medical center buildings when the valet delivers my car and I don't get in but go to the trunk to retrieve my gun. At the Scurlock Tower there are always plenty of people in very close quarters where the cars are delivered by the valet service so my routine gets noticed. Last time I was there, I thought the nearest little old couple waiting for their car were going to have a heart attack; there were audible gasps. The situation struck me as funny.

Side note: It's also a little funny to get weighed at the doctor. I remove excess weight before stepping on the scales. Shoes, belt, holster, keys, cell, wallet, checkbook, passport, large pocket knife, nitro spray, asthma inhaler, and two extra-length .45 magazines totals out to over 7 pounds. :)

So, yeah, I will go into places that post both 30.06 and 30.07. The 30.07s are a minor inconvenience that I'll avoid if I have an easy alternative. The 30.06s get me a little peeved but they're generally places where I have no practical (sometimes just no, period) alternative.

I conceal carry most of the time so the 30.07s don’t bother me so much. I started just locking my gun in the truck for the 30.06 locales like the doctors office. Just the gun, I now keep the holster on and will take off my jacket or tuck in my shirt to show my empty holster. I will comply but I am annoyed and intend to show it.

The Holiday Inn in Frisco has a 30.06 sign but not a 30.07. When you check in the desk clerk notifies you of said sign, and says they require all firearms to be openly carried on the premises. When I check in I always reach down and tuck my shirt behind my holster. The desk clerk told me the first time that she was sorry but if they don’t make that notification, they get fired.

Do they have it on the site when you make a reservation online? If not, that is not effective notice.

That's a new one - a business that *wants* you to carry openly, vs concealed if you're carrying a firearm. I'd think their insurance carrier would mandate no-carry, and if there's no insurance mandate, that if they're tolerant of carry on property they'd prefer concealed carry just to minimize complaints.

That is the only place I've ever seen or heard of that happening. When work is going well, I do a fair amount of traveling to lots of places. I have stayed in hotels in some majorly leftist cities that had lots of gun restrictions that I ignore, but that one is very hard to ignore when the desk clerk gives verbal notice to every person checking in.

When I took the CHL class, the instructor said he carries a card. It has his name, number, and asks why would they allow untrained criminals carry but not people who have been trained, had a background check, and otherwise legal to carry. He gives it to the manager and let him know when they change their policy because until then, he will not patronize that business.
