    To All,

ImVho, it's TIME to restart another old TEXAS tradition: HORSEWHIPPING creeps, crooks & haters.

Now where did I put my old training whip??

There've been a LOT of well-orchestrated smears lately. The whole Kaepernick thing irritates me because they have to involve the anthem and get ignorant people to hate it because of the word "slaves" when the easiest, most obvious interpretation ever is that "hirelings" is the British mercenaries and "slaves" were the impressed sailors (of any color) on the British ship he was stuck on during the battle. SMH.

Another person pointed me to this NPR article recently: https://www.npr.org/2015/03/02/3902...safety-quote-lost-its-context-in-21st-century telling me that I wasn't using the famous Ben Franklin quote correctly, but a few hours of digging proved that article to be 100% baloney as the NPR article completely ignores a second time Franklin clearly used the phrase.

I expect this book to have some true stories and skeletons in the closet, but also some interpretive smears, too. You've GOT to "fact check" the modern "fact checkers" by going back and digging through original sources.

... I would expect it to be fairly revisionist...

It is. This month’s Texas Monthly does a long form review of the book. The author (a domestic immigrant from Florida) is employed by the Dallas Morning News and has a personal beef against the Rangers. Much of his source material for the book is oral history.

    https://www.texasmonthly.com/the-culture/secret-history-texas-rangers/

I’ve been reading Texas monthly as far back as I can remember and have held a subscription continuously since 1992. With the changes by the new owners and editors, the most recent issue has led me to cancel my subscription and earned the them a letter with my dissatisfaction that Texas Monthly is no longer about Texas, and instead should be retitled to Virtue Signaling in Texas.

Sounds like another revisionist "history" book.

The Rangers were not perfect. But history must be examined in the context of the times.

On the whole, the Rangers have done far more good than bad.

    Simply disgusting PC.
All of this is really gaining traction because of a picture...

Mind you, as a photographer I think that's stupid because something in the background doesn't tell me what's in your head. It does sound like he was enforcing an disgusting order from the governor - was it a Democrat Governor at the time?

And - they are making it trend on Twitter and I'm even seeing suggestions that the baseball team in Arlington needs a new name. Sigh.

I've read a lot of books about the Texas Rangers and they have tracked down and apprehended more outlaws, crooks and law breakers than most law reinforcement agencies.

Even in these days and times the Rangers are asked to get involved when the other departments need the rangers experience in investigating and/or finding the bad men/women.

Pretty soon, there’ll be a push for them to do away with their ‘white hats’.......you watch & see!

Monument removal is just an attempt to erase and “sanitize” history. I predict it’ll ultimately backfire and some future generation will “correct” course. May not be in my lifetime but as the old saying goes, those that don’t know history, are doomed to repeat it!
We just saw that they haven't learned a damn thing.

The problem is in the schools... where this stuff is being force fed to your kids.
I've been doing my best to unprogram my kids on a regular basis.
I have 3 , oldest is still in HS. I find that having honest conversations with them really clears things up.

Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" was de rigeur on college campuses 25 years ago, when I read it for my History class. They use it in High Schools and Junior High Schools.

It's one-sided and poorly written. It trashes the Texas Rangers.

If your kid ever brings that lame book home, pull them out of the school.

Social media is becoming a joke. Anybody can say anything at any time and people believe it is true. I will support Banks and the Rangers.
