    If I can't spell it, I won't drink it.
In Australia there is a popular beer called XXXX or 4 x beer.

Story goes the brewers got so drunk on the first batch they forgot how to spell BEER hence the 4 x's

Ha! Wheat beer! My drinking buddy discovered that he was allergic to wheat beer (emergency room, cramps, difficulty breathing) in 1968 when we shared a 6 pack of Buckhorn.

    Out here by the lake!
I'm sure I told this story before here, but here it is again. First time in RSA we are on our way to the hunting ground in the Northern Province(Limpopo if your PC). While going thru a city I notice a truck that looks like a beer truck, but the roll up doors are open. I see what looks like plastic milk crates with cardboard quarts in them. Its pretty hot out so I ask about the milk truck with no refrigeration. The P. H. tells me it kaffer beer! I ask WTF is Kaffer beer & he says sorghum beer. Says its total piss!

Years later when wheat beers start really taking off Anhieser Bush was going to star making it. They never did that I know of. Could be someone from InBev woke them up about it.

Hamms, Old Style, Strohs & Schlitz were all beers of my youth. Have an Old Style neon. I'm with you on Aheuser-Bush & the headache. Bud was my first really sick beer. We were over at a cousins Bar B Que and snagged a hot case out of the garage. Made our way into the corn field and killed them. We were so sick drunk & busted! Aint drank a bud since!

The funny thing my mom's mom drank Schiltz & we as kids got to drink them too over @ grandma's. After my grandfather died grandma stay @ our house until my dad couldn't take it anymore. I was in junior high & I went to staty with grandma(it was the next street over from my parents). While staying there my buddies would come over & we partied with grandma. She never drove so she would call the liquor store & they would deliver. Grandma must have been on some pills as she would get blotto! She had this death chair that rocked reclined & swiveled. It was hard to sit in sober. She took a coupleof good spills out of it getting pretty bruised up & that ended party @ grandma's. Granny taught me about schnapps & whisky with Schlitz.
Schlitz Malt Liquor Tall Boys.............just typing it gave me a buzz.

I liked Old Style. Haven't seen it in years.
eta: -Come to think of it, I probably haven't seen it since the Big 3 domestics took over 70% of display space at the beer store & left the other 30% for the increasing assortment of craft beers.
