Anyone know how many (approximately) loaded rounds of 9mm will fit in a one gallon sealed container?
My Googling just gets me brass counts of about 1800 and not loaded ammunition count.
But by that 1800 brass number I am going to guess somewhere around 1200-1300 loaded.
I do not have a 1 gallon container yet to find out.

I weighed empty 9mm cases and get about 115 per lb. using that I calculate about 8000 empties in a five gallon pail. If you use that data point it makes 1600 Empty cases per gallon.

Your estimate of 1200-1300 loaded rounds in gallon bucket should be pretty close but then the question then will be how do you carry it...it will be heavy. I hope your pail has a sturdy handle.

My 1K bulk packs of 9mm are in cartons that measure 7”x7”x6”, which is 294 cubic inches.

The volume of one liquid gallon is 231 cubic inches, so I would guess a little less than 1K rounds.

    Why not use ammo cans?
    Why I didn't t think of that I don't know.
All the ones I have are the large ones and full of pre packed ammo.
Now you have me thinking about were I wanted to be to begin with.
The small ammo can should get me in the 500 range of loose rounds.
Just have to find them now.

    Thank you sir.
Make me feel like a dumb ass, but thank you anyway.

Ammo cans are the way to go.

Buy 30 cal cans if you can. Any cans bigger than that get pretty heavy when full.

For reference 1,000 loose 7.62x39 (or boxed 45 AARP) rounds fit in a 50 cal ammo can. It's heavy and about as full as you are going to get it.

If you find ammo cans at a reasonable price load up on them. They are handy.

This is 650 rds loose + a box of 50. Should be no issue with 1000 rds of 9mm

Plastic boxes like those linked above are the way to go for carrying bulk ammo IMO. The metal .30 cal cans will definitely work too. I use the .50 sized cans for holding cleaning supplies and boxed ammo.

I worry about the handles and lids on fully loaded plastic ammo cans. Metal is the only way to go for me.

    A 50 cal can of 1,000 7.62x39 weighs 40+ lbs. 1,000 45 AARPs weighs 45+ lbs.

Plenty strong for carrying the ammo to the range. I have a .30 cal fully loaded with 5.56.

Probably not strong enough to dome a mother fer with the can...well more than once.

FYI, Sam’s has a 50 Cal ammo can with a 30 cal can inside for $13. They aren’t the official government ones but they work great.
