Springfield builds good 1911s, I sold mine and bought a Kimber covert carry custom shop for the same price,,not really better just more compact.

I've never owned one. Shot one once for military qualification many years ago. One of those genuine US GI models. If felt good in my hand and I couldn't seem to miss the pop up targets.

I already own a couple of polymer handguns in 45 ACP. A Shield and an XDm 3.8 Compact. When I came across this Springfield Ronin Operator it really caught my eye.

I've found some online for $700-$759, but alas, not in stock. Is there another comparable model or brand in that price range that I should be looking at and comparing? I really like the looks of the Ruger SR1911 too. Or is this one worth waiting for?
    Finally! A thread with porn!

Nice! Mine was delivered to the FFL this afternoon. Have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up. I'm happy it comes with a Mec-Gar mag cause I just received the two Mec-Gars I ordered. They'll all match.
I have 4 different types of mags I use in mine, only the one that I use carrying can I tell when it's in my gun. That one is a KimPro, I like it because the base fits flush to the gun.

Picked it up from the FFL yesterday. The 1911 is a whole different animal. Had a fun time field stripping, cleaning and lubing it. Never had so much trouble reassembling a firearm before. Fortunately it came with an idiot scratch, so I don't have to worry about that from now on. Hope to get to the range Tuesday to break it in.

Cycling snap caps through it wasn't very encouraging. Never made it through a full mag without a misfeed. Mostly the last round head butting the top of the chamber, but a few double feeds in the middle of the mag. Probably just operator timing and headspace.

Thanks. I looked at several you tube videos for the how to part. I just had a heck of a time getting the recoil spring and bushing back in place. Got a bushing wrench on order now.

I was going to ask if you got one. You don’t need one. When I’m back home I’ll take some helpful pics.

    Here ya go:

    First and obviously...

From here you only need to hold and press the plug in with no tools needed and rotate the bushing. Pull the plug off the spring.

Now that we have no spring tension the slide can move without a fight. Now just line up the slide to allow the stop to push out.

From here just pull the slide off and take the recoil assembly out rotate the bushing the other way pull out the bushing then barrel (recoil assembly out like any other handgun and barrel pushing forward out the slide)

    Reassemble is just as imagined:

from here put the slide back on with the barrel link pushed forward a tad. You will feel a slight stop.
    17FFCE9D-457D-46EB-96D8-B828DCC4636D.jpeg
Once you feel that, just slightly push down and nudge the barrel a bit.
    94314F81-8A66-4F41-BECA-43ECA3510B8C.jpeg
now everything should be free moving. Just line up the slide stop to barrel link. A good barrel link will have a chamfer.

why does it not feel like it wants to go in? Detent. AE81AD44-93EF-44F6-B6E3-0E86E205369C.jpeg
