There was a well-done comparison of the Yeti on YouTube. It compared the Coleman Max and several others over the course of several days. The Coleman was about 1/4 the cost and the result was basically a tie with the Yeti as far as ice consumption. The Yeti far exceeded the Coleman in durability.
I'd still take a Yeti if it was given to me.
There's a lot of shit I'd take if given to me that I wouldn't pay for.

Then again most of it's illegal or you pay on the back end
    Hookers
    Drugs
    Trophy Wives
    Super models
    Belt Feds

Probably best just to avoid those things anyways. Well I'd be pretty tempted if a belt fed were dropped in my lap. I'd never enjoy it though, couldn't tell anyone about it or why I'm buying the ammo, probably have to bury it for the zombie apocalypse but it would be mine.

I have a Yeti tumbler that was given to me and I am damn impressed with how long it will its ice. I don't think I'd buy one though.

I do have a smaller Rtic that works well for taking enough drinks out for a day at the range. I like it well enough.

My favorite cooler is our Coleman Marine cooler. Made in the USA, relatively inexpensive and holds ice well. It's our main food cooler when we go camping.

I also have an Igloo cube that I like well enough.

If I want another rotomolded cooler like a Yeti I'd probably go for a Pelican.

I don't think anyone has ever bought a Yeti cooler. Everyone says it was a gift.

I did the spray foam insulation trick in the lid of an old Coleman cooler just to see if it would work. It made a huge improvement, well worth the time and effort.

I had an Orca that was one of the prizes in a Mountain Dew giveaway. A friend won it and didn't want it so I bought it from him. It was the 35 quart size and the thing weighed about 25 pounds empty. During a hurricane back in South Carolina, we were without power for 6 days. It did a fine job during that time. I sold it for what I paid for it before the move.

I love my Yeti. I take it on trips and it keeps ice well. Most important, it’s durable. I’m constantly smacking it into things while climbing on and off trains. It is heavy when loaded with ice, food and beverages. Mine was a Father’s Day gift before they opened their mouth regarding the NRA and alienating there customer base.

I got mine (yeti) for enduring a (honestly) low pressure sales pitch at Lake Brownwood. They were trying to sell overpriced lots on a golf course. After the short video and a golf cart tour, he asked, "Y'all interested?" I replied, "I'm here for the cooler".
He said "cool, I'm going fishing" let's get y'all on the road back home". We also got a kindle fire in that deal. Momma sold it for about $80 on FB. It was a nice short road trip for a Saturday.

I have several of their tumblers and some from others. Cups are all about the same but Yeti lids are better.

Don’t have one of their coolers because I never go anywhere. If I had time to camp or take my Jeeps out on the trails for a weekend, I’d buy one. For extreme use they seem to be the way to go.

For the almost never times I ever need one, my old cooler will suffice. Wish that wasn’t the case though.

I've got a couple of Yetis. They're both gifts. They're also heavy, durable, work well, and are very small internally for their external size. If I have to go on an overnight trip, they're the first coolers I load.

@Vaquero 's post reminded me of a story involving free stuff.

My wife and I were selected to sit through a presentation for a time share in Myrtle Beach, SC. Since we were only about 20 minutes away, we accepted. The reason we accepted was that we were promised a $50 Target gift card and a $25 Outback gift card.

We showed up and were upfront with the salesman that we were there for the gift cards. He understood and said he was being observed by his supervisors and had to go through with the sales pitch. He said he would make it as quick as possible.

First he wanted to show us a sample unit and took us to look at it. It was an ocean front hotel that had been redone to efficiency apartments. It was a very nice place. I still don't know why I even noticed but, I asked the guy where the sprinkler heads were. He looked and didn't see any. I said that I thought they were required. He said he would find out when we went back downstairs.

He sat us back down at his desk and walked over to his supervisors to ask about the sprinklers. The salesman and three other men were in a huddle and would occasionally look over at us. One guy got out his phone and called someone and then they resumed their huddle.

In a couple of more minutes the salesman came back and said that if we would leave right then he would give us 3 of the $50 Target cards and 3 of the $25 Outback cards. I said "Show me the cards." and he pulled them out of his pocket and we left.
