A while back I bought an upper chambered in 300 BO. It was kinda on a whim but since bolts and mags are compatible with standard AR's I thought, why not. I bought 1 50 Rd box of magtech 123 gr fmjs and figured I might just throw on a trs25 and co witness it.

I've really had a blast running cheap steel cased fodder through a 7.62x39 upper but it's not a gun I'd bet my life on. It's super finicky about magazines and only fired 100% when I installed an enhanced firing pin.

All that perked my interest in the 300. Not necessarily the steel cased options so much as having a more reliable version of a 30 Cal AR. With no desire to scale up to an AR 10, it seemed like the obvious choice.

Anyhow, I certainly don't expect it to outshoot my white oak or BA 223s but I'm curious what it is capable of. What have ya'll had your best luck with? I'm not really looking to run it suppressed but I'd shoot subsonics if they are significantly more accurate.

Eventually I may even reload for it but that may be a little ways down the road.

    'Preciate y'all's input.

I put a 16" CBC Industries 300 BO upper on a PSA classic lower and mounted a Nikon P223 (3x32) scope on it. Bottom is the first time out at 50 yards from a bench. The middle bull is with S&B 147 gr FMJ. The other 4 are Fiocchi loaded with 125 gr Hornady SST. It's not a tack driver, but then neither am I.

Top photo is at 100 yards with Fiocchi 125gr Hornady SST. Top group of 4, and after scope adjustment, bottom group of 5. I'm happy with it.

Those targets look pretty good. I also have a carbine upper. If I can get similar groups I may leave a nice scope on it.

Unfortunately most of my 308 bullets are on the heavier end. Have you shot any subsonics through yours?

Since I can never leave well enough alone, I see a set of dies in my future.

I have not shot any subsonic ammo through it. But I did get a 7.5" 300 BO pistol about a year ago. At 50 yards, I am not quite as accurate with it. Probably due to the shorter barrel and red dot sight instead of a scope.

I doubt mine did that good the first time out. I need to get myself going on getting a suppressor (and maybe even an SBR approval). I really hate having to pay the gov. $200 at a time for these "modifications", but I'll end up doing it. :banghead:

I have a Noveske 8” SBR with a Leupold 1-6 scope on it and I shot this at 300 yards with it. I was using hand loaded ammo with 110 grain Barnes TAC-TX bullets at 2315fps.

Disregard the top hit, that was user error, dialed too much elevation.

I’m getting 3/4” groups out of my 16” CMMG upper. Fun to shoot, comfortably taking deer.

I load Nosler 125g BTs loaded super. It took about 200 rounds before it started shooting lights out. At first I was frustrated and almost sold it. Glad I stuck it out.

I would be comfortable doing head shots under 100 yds on pigs. I like mine a ton.

Here’s my first time out sighting my 300 at a reduction target at 50 yards. 7 inch barrel shooting American Eagle 150 GR.

Not the tightest group to be sure, but for my purposes, I’m happy with it.

This round really lends itself to reloading well. I did a ladder test on some loads to arrive at my current loading profile for Nosler 125g BTs. Recently bought some Speer TNTs in 125g. Will start loading them after I run out of the BTs.

I loaded several different bullets in 300 Blk. I liked it so much I bought a pistol upper, but never have got around to shooting it.
