I worry that we will become numb to sound bite numbers and routine statistics and loose sight of the current tragedy about to fall upon our nations citizens and their loved ones.

Has anyone taken note of the current predictions, likely to become fact, that the number of Texans that will die over the next several weeks will equal the number of ALL American soldiers that died storming the beaches on D-Day?

Many fathers, mothers, children and loved ones cried over their dead and buried servicemen after D-Day.

That is what is about to befall Texan citizens. Their loved ones will shed as many, or more, tears.
In the midst of a deadly epidemic the loss of our fellow citizens will be all the more tragic and painful due to the prohibitions on gatherings to burry our dead. That emotionally devastating loss will amplify our pain.

I continues to be totally astounded and utterly befuddled at how many fail to recognize this and continue to polarize and politicize that which should be uniting us. We are all Americans despite scarcely distinguishable differences.

I do see that posters here are beginning to feel the tragic losses that are occurring. If you are among those being affected by the escalating death rate let us all pray together.

    g'nite.

You have never answered my questions. I guess you don't want to reveal what would be either an agenda, hypocrisy or naivete.

Do you call for Americans to stop using motor vehicles because 40,000 a year die in accidents?

The flu kills up to 40,000 a year. Should we be in lockdown every flu season?

I assume you protest over abortion with the same tears you protest here?

ANY loss of a loved one is difficult, regardless of the cause of death. But we live in an imperfect world and death gets us all.

You claim to be unwilling to accept a single death. Yet you only cry over one cause, which is not even a major cause.

You reveal so much about your character.

    Helotes!
What's the definition of "Too Much "?

Well, that all depends on what "normal" is! :clown:

And to put a little more levity back into this thread!

No minimization here, either. This COULD get fugly, but right now we don't know to what extent.

    Am I concerned? Yes
Do I wash hands more than normal? Yes
Do I stay home? Work + minimal personal shopping / travel.
What? Reasonable precautions proportionate to an apparent or actual expected threat? We can't have that! You must panic and go overboard!

1,324 dead in our country today, reports are still being tallied and the rate of change is increasing.
As I've said, beware exponential-fatigue. They, the deceased, all have loved ones who will not even be allowed a proper burial gathering.
    ..............................
I was just reading of a disturbing dystopian concept coming out of Italy.

Italian cases seem, on the surface, to be controlled.
Their public health conversation is turning to facing the challenge of determining when and how and at what rate to re-open their society without precipitating a second cataclysmic surge of contagion.

    Consider two simple facts:
    1. An effective vaccine is 12-18 months off. It may never exist.
    2. Tests for IgG and IgM antibodies that demonstrate viral resistance after exposure is very near.

Italy is considering providing work and public-place passes to those individuals who's serologic test demonstrate COVID protection and forbidding work and public-place access to those still susceptible to the virus.

    ...........................
THAT is the most disturbing thing I have been confronted with to date.
Read what you fucking wrote. Will not be allowed a proper burial gathering ? Says who? I fucking dare a bunch of jackboots to disrupt a funeral for one of my loved ones on some bullshit, un, no ANTI Constitutional executive order ordering me to stay at home and not be in a group of more than xxx.

You want to live like that, fine, China is <<<<<< and Italy is >>>>>>

Statist, totalitarian fear mongering bullshit like this is what is rapidly going to send us spiraling into something that does not even resemble the Republic we had back in December.

Get mad. Tell them to fuckoff. The “cure” is more deadly than the disease in terms of loss of life, property, liberty.

If any of y’all more pissed off than scared, come on out and join me. About a 90 minute drive for me, I’m sure it is closer for some of y’all.
