Too windy tonight. Didn't feel like going outside and firing up the grill. Used the stove instead for some simple fajitas. (onions and peppers didn't show up in the photo)

Italian sausage (both hot and sweet), sauce, spaghetti. The sauce: An avalanche of garlic in the sauce along with: a large handful or so of minced onions, at least a heaping tablespoon of black black pepper, lots of basil fakes, some of the oil from browning the sausages, and a bit of salt in my sauce. Simmered the sauce with the sausage and spices in it for around 1.5 hours:

Added pasta after parboiling it for 5 minutes, then simmered it in the sauce for another 5 minutes. Delicious.

Don't forget, though, if you have any favorite family owned restaurant to buy some takeout. Those little restaurants are typically seeing a 50-75% drop in revenue. They may not make it another month.

    Excellent idea and agreed.

Tonight, sirloins and baked potatoes. But I'm also doing chicken and beef for fajitas, some spare ribs, sausages and hamburgers.

Should keep us fed for a few days.

The shame of that is many are farther away then I want food brought to me from! Like Burger Kings commercial about safely handling your food, but the commercial does not show the neck tatted whopper who actually works there!

I might have spent $1 on my dinner, and that counts the second serving after this one as well. It hit my macros and my taste buds so I was very satisfied, but a little bit of cubed fried spam would have been a bonus. My pantry and my fridge/freezer are as stocked as they've ever been in my 39 years (and for that I am thankful), but sometimes eating a little perspective keeps me grounded. I genuinely feel for those souls that are about to really feel the pinch of our current economic situation (and I predict it to worsen before it gets better), even as an agnostic I can tell you with full confidence that god knows I've been hungry more times than I care to discuss. I wish that upon no man.

Had brisket tacos from my favorite Mexican joint yesterday.

    Great reminder.

Put a roast in the crock pot today, pics coming later.

The steaks, baked potatoes and roasted vegetables last night were beyond awesome! I had a Shiner Bohemian Black Lager which went great with the steak.

Tonight we are having hamburgers that I grilled last night, along with fries and ranch style beans.

The St. Louis spare ribs turned out looking great too. Smoked for about an hour, then wrapped in foil, and cooked for another four hours on the smoker.

Reminds me I have to process some burger after work. Once watched burger being processed, do my own since. Mrs Whistler picked up 3 large roasts, one for burger, one for stews/chili and one for the instantpot. Prefer other cuts for some of those but choices are limited at this time.

    In the woods...
I put on a pot of black-eyed peas today. Onion, garlic, a bit of bacon and the usual seasonings. This evening, I baked a pan of thin cornbread. About halfway through the bake, I put a link of pork-venison sausage in to keep the cornbread company.
Black eyed peas, cornbread, and venison link sausage, Baby! I just finished my last piece of cornbread for dessert - with honey on it!
