Finally bought my first AR a few weeks ago, looking for a light to put on it.
I’d like something bright enough that I could walk around at night and spotlight with... maybe out to 75 yards. Looking for something under $100. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Streamlight or Sure-fire quickly come to mind, but your $100 budget might be hard to hit.

I have been using Streamlight products for close to twenty years now, and highly recommend them.

Streamlight TLR-1 HP, HPL or game spotter are all good choices. They are around the $100-125 price range IIRC. I have the Surefire 600 too and it is nice, but so was the price tag.

Surefire will mostly be above his budget. A G2x and a mount will be around a hundred bucks, but won't get him anywhere near 75 yards

I am really rethinking my China purchases. They also bragged about selling us thermometers miscalibrated so that they would read normal when you really had a fever. Olight stuff looks nice but all from China.
Agreed, and this is likely one a very few exceptions I'd make, particularly until we get our own mfg base back up and running, and if there's immediate need...

Just charge from direct-power, and not a powered USB hub connected to a PC, etc.

As so many others have said. Surefire (out of your price range) and Streamlight. You may have to go over budget by a little bit but you will only be buying one light. Just make sure it is made to be on a gun.

Buying one light was what I thought too. Reality is I have 2 SureFire M322 V white/IR Scout lights.

Try InForce. Qualify as made in USA (they might source some non-US components.

If you keep your eye out, this version can be had for <$100 from time to time and the benefit is its low profile and a separate mount is not required.

I habe seen more than a few inforces break.

They have a neat design, but are just too fragile to depend upon

Good to know. I have a few on my AR's. Thanks to the good Lord I haven't had a need to 'rely' on them. I don't run my AR's vet hard either transporting from safe to range to safe.

    Appreciate the feedback!
