    the country’s left-wing government is finally imposing a stronger form of lockdown.{Actually, reading below they are not imposing.}

    “As the number of new cases and deaths from COVID-19 rises sharply in Sweden the government and the Public Health Agency have presented new measures for how people can further slow the spread of the novel coronavirus,” reports Radio Sweden.

    The new “guidelinesencourage people to avoid public transport during rush hours, advise shops to stagger the number of people they let in, and tell sports clubs to cancel all upcoming matches and tournaments.

    However, it doesn’t appear as though any of the measures will be enforced legally through police dispersal orders or fines.

    If I am not mistaken, many businesses in the US have been ordered to close. But maybe I am wrong.

    Yup, with fines/threat of jail for those that don’t comply.

    Lots of cities encouraging people to rat on their neighbors, too.

    My son manages a retail store for a company in Los Angeles that does about $50 million a year in internet and store front sales. Orange Country and Los Angeles County has tried three times to shut them down but their lawyers have had them back open within 24 hours each time by showing how much business they do with the local city and county police, fire and ambulance services. They are adhering to a total of 10 people in the showroom at one time with a line of folks outside waiting to enter. This shows me that if any business owner does not want to roll over and play dead but chooses to push back hard, he can protect his business unless he is in sit down food service.

    Glad to hear they can stay open.

    Do you think they could still stay open if they didn't do all that business with the local city and county police, fire and ambulance services?

    If they provide "essential goods/services" it should not matter who their clients are.

    My wife has a discount store, she has home improvement and grocery items- that will be our position if she is asked to close. Nobody has asked her to close as of yet.

    https://news.harvard.edu/gazette/st...nt-overwhelming-hospitals-and-build-immunity/

    Check this Harvard Gazette article.

    Current degree of social distancing may perfectly efficacious to prevent ICUs from being overwhelmed.

    But, the present course might excessively delay the herd immunity that must, by present thought, be achieved.

    Intermittent social distancing into 2021 might become the optimum strategy until 12-18 months from now when (or if) we get mass vaccinations.

    Thanks for the support I get here. If you've not guessed a lot of my background is public health and epidemiology, though I've currently followed a different rabbit hole professionally.
    Just hoping to spread accurate info that is so hard to come by.
