Or change your home of record to Texas. If it is listed as home of record on a printed LES, you are a Texas resident regardless of drivers license state.
All you would need in that case is,
LES with Texas as home of record,
    Active duty ID
And State issued proof of address such as vehicle registration.

Of course that may take time to show up on your LES. But it is legal to change your home of record. That may help you with state taxes as well.

I did change my residency to Texas when I came here, it was about a 12ish percent automatic raise since no income tax (coming from california)

Are you active duty, or an activated Guardsman/Reservist?

It shouldn't make any difference, but it may be the cause of the confusion.

Also, the key term is "permanent duty station" per the Federal Firearms Regulations Reference Guide 2014 page 134...

Good luck, and there's several of us retirees in the San Antonio area if you need anything. Just reach out!

Yeah seems like everyone in this town is military, former, or family. Thanks! looks like I will just be waiting for my chl to come

Is Texas on your LES as home of record yet? If it is, that plus vehicle registration with a Texas address is you proof or residence.
I have in the past on 4473s, when selling at walmart and checked by ATF auditors and they said it was fine, used this method.
    Under Texas law, active duty wih Texas as permanent home of record, is automatically a Texas resident. You need;
State issued ID, from any state as long as it is not expired. That is proof of who you are.
Miltary ID and orders, of any kind, placing you in Texas. I get a copy of orders.
Vehicle registration showing current home address. I get a copy of that too.
LES showing Texas as your home of record. I get a copy of that too.
That all shows; who you are, you are a Texas resident, and exactly where you reside in Texas. Copies all get stapled to the 4473 and filed. It is all legal under Texas law amd ATF regulations.
Now, all that being said. Finding an FFL that will do that is another matter. You can try taking all that proof with you to the FFL and try it. I do not remember where the the info is in the State laws but it is there. If nothing else, you might try the local office of the State Attorney General and ask them. They should know. If you call the ATF to find it, ask for an FFL investigator. They should be able to help you.
Good luck. Don't know what else to tell you.

You shouldn't have to. You are a Texas resident. If anything, if you don't have a TX DL yet tell them it's because the DMV is shut down...

Plus, take a copy of that page from the ATF document I posted above. Sometimes showing you've done your homework will get them to do the right thing. If they have any doubt, they'll tell you you're not qualified even though you are!

And despite the good intentions of people recommending contacting the ATF or TX AG, given the current circumstances I doubt you'll get much traction out of any government agency at the moment. Plus, you shouldn't have to, you've got all the documentation you need; but again with all the recent panic buying I suspect gun stores are weary and worn out...

They dont accept transfers, I have been to lonestar before to do my fingerprints.
That may be a COVID thing. I saw that Sons of Liberty Gunworks also stopped accepting transfers.

Call McQueeney Gun Club and Cedar Ridge Range. I think one of them would be able to help.

Welcome to the forum, (I'm a new guy as well). I PCS'd to Fort Sam in January of last year and have since transferred several firearms into my name with my LA drivers license, CAC, proof of residence, and PCS orders. I'm not sure where you are located, but I've used Modern Elite Firearms for my transfers without any issue. And from the email's I've received from them they are still doing business at this time.

    Good luck
