I'm still new to reloading but have a Lee turret press and loaded some last night.

    100 rounds .380, with Berry's 100 grain bullets and 4.6 grains Accurate #5

    200 rounds 9mm, with Berry's 124 grain bullets and 5.9 grains Accurate #5

When bullets were hard to come by I bought several boxes of Berrys in different calibers. How do you like those? I have not loaded nor shot any of those.

These are the only type I have loaded so far but everything has shot fine for me. Only shot about 200 .380 and 400 9mm so far. The only issue I have had loading is the plating on the 380 bullets wrinkles up on a casing every once in awhile. I just assumed it was human error on my part though.

Shorter case = inadequate bell on case mouth. Best guess.

Thanks. I'll have to adjust my die and pin point it, just happy to crank some out and shoot them so far. I have 6 wrinkled like that, out of 3-400 rounds. I've been wondering if they are shootable or if my hand would rather not take the chance

Stand them up next to some others and see if the case is shorter

No noticable difference between the heights and the mouths are slightly wider than my good reloads, which had the factory crimp done. All the casings are different brands too.

If the mouths are slightly wider than the factory crimp die ones then they are shorter. The crimp die also depends on case length.

Berrys and Accura are the go to guys for plated bullets. Both of them make quality products and their plating is thick/soft enough to take a decent taper crimp without breaking. Berrys are cleaner in a collator than the Accura but the color and handling of the Accura are better. Berrys discolor in a collator and are slick, which makes QC a tad harder sometimes. Both will hold up well to normal loads and velocities and are a great alternative to FMJs. One advantage in 38s is that Accura has a cannelure for roll crimping but Berrys you have to taper crimp, I prefer the former in revolver cartridges even if 38 doesn't need it as much as 500S&. Low to mid 357s with slow powder seem to benefit from that little starting pressure bump based on my testing.

Deemus isn't your average reloader working on a bench at his house.

Many times what he says doesn't pertain to a lot of us.

In case you didn't know he is a big time commercial loader.

Let's not tell tall tales, small time commercial loader is far more appropriate to my operation! Not a lot of brass around...

    If they chamber shoot them.

Your barrel is going to damage them anyways.

I ran two new brass through the resizing die. Hornady and lee manual says overall case length of 1.368 and I’m getting 1.3715. Should I trim, reset the die or am I good to go being 2 thousandth of an inch longer if my math is right?

This morning I sized and lubed about 300, 160 grain 38 lead SWC bullets.
    Then loaded them.

Tuesday, I'm going to teach a fellow how to shoot and I'll probably let him shoot these up.

Just realized my math was off I’m between 3 and 4 thousandths of an inch longer. But the question still stands

You might want to start a separate thread with your trim/load questions so they are easier to parse and respond to without the clutter of the everyday posts. Just a thought.

If you exceed the maximum case length, trim to no less than the maximum case length. Usually there is a recommended trim to length that splits the min/mas of the SAAMI spec for that caliber. Just to be sure you are talking about case length and not cartridge length.
