While COVID-19 has a higher mortality rate (2-3% vs 0.1% for the flu), obviously it is much more contained that the current flu strain...

Wish today was payday so the buy would be made. Gotta be in for the long haul.
Absolutely, but dosen't help my situation with my move coming up. I was depending on some of my 401K to assist in the transition. Lets hope it can atleast level out & not keep dropping like the last few days.

What ever you do dont look at your 401k. I made that mistake yesterday. Ive lost 5k since Monday.
Just looked, I'm down quite a bit but it'll recover. This ain't the first dip, won't be the last.
Besides, I'm so far ahead of where I was in 2016, it ain't funny.
Exactly. I'm still averaging over 10% over the past 10 years.

Avian Flu, Swine Flu, Ebola, SARS, Anthrax, MERS, AIDS — all blow wildly out of proportion by the media.

The same media none of us trust for their politics, weather forecasts or unbiased journalism, we're now taking them at their word for health issues. C'mon guys.

I can tell you're a thinker, and a good one.

I had a look, and haven't actually lost that much. I'm still up 13.5 percent over last year, not counting additional purchases.

    Were we so fortunate!

Influenza virus kills about 1 out of 6,500 infected.
COVID-19 Coronavirus, in china, kills 1 out of 40.

A routine surgical mask is mostly placebo. Relatively ineffectual.
Only 10-20% of each breath passes through the mask.
Most of the volume of your breath follows the lower-resistance path around the fiber barrier.
A surgical mask is designed to protect the person being cut on from the spittle of the person wearing the mask. They're pretty effective at that. They are completely ineffective at protecting the wearer from anything but looking normal.

    This is sobering:

Mortality varies greatly depending on various factors.
Age is a paramount determiner for death from COVID-19.

Your age and your chance of death.......If/when we all get it.

    10-40 1 in 500 die
    40-49 1 in 250 die
    50-59 1 in 77 die
    60-69 1 in 28 die
    70-79 1 in 12 die
    80+ 1 in 7 die

    And agree......
Donning a mask confers the wearer approximately zero protection.

    Pretty damn serious

    Yes.
Agreeing that your post verifies the terribly frightening nature of COVID-19!!!

    According to your data:

Flu kills about 1 in 1,200 of those infected.
Mostly people with other confounding co-morbidities

    Coronavirus kills 1 in 29.
Mostly completely healthy older(over 50) people.

Currently there is little to do to contain spread of this virus or to mitigate the impact.

It's inexorable march toward our cities is, almost certainly, un-impedeable.
Anyone who is remaining smug or unconcerned just isn't paying attention.
