Good evening. Found this rare gem and plan on re-finishing the wood. Here are a few pictures of it so far.

Forgot to add a little history. This is a lever action 22 mag. So the 44 dlm was made by Marlin and crosses over as a Marlin 57m. Marlin made 66,889 of the 57m between 1959-1969. Now Marlin only made 1200 of 44 dlm between 1963-1964.

Well here is the finished product. 5 coats of shellac and there you have it. I ended up having to order an oversized buttstock and had to shape it down to size because I just couldnt find an original.

Beautiful job--I have a thing for old J.C. Higgins guns. I have an old bolt action 20g and one of their single shot 22s. Nice stuff. Enjoy!
