The deputy said "You'll haft to speak up".I’m sure he only wanted to axe the deputy a question.
Not sure if he got the answer he was hoping for.
But it appears that the correct answer was given.

My wife and I had a conservation about this. We agreed that “axe wielding intruder” does not need to be in any condition to explain anything by the time red and blue lights show up.She cuffed him. I was hoping for “administered CPR but was unable to revive him.”
I could hear the word in my head.
I gots me a KS7 filled with mini slugs and buckshot to solve the problem. Think that beats an axeIf someone is hacking their way into my home and makes it in I very much doubt I am going to need to directly struggle with the criminal in question.
