    Greetings!

I just joined the group and I'm anxious to broaden my general knowledge of all things related to guns.

I am the director of Reveille Peak Ranch Range (RPR Range for short) in Burnet, Texas. We've been open for many years to military, law enforcement, and government organizations but we just recently opened to the public. Our website is https://www.rprrange.com

I have way too many gun related questions to try to fit them on one thread, but my biggest question at the moment is what is missing from the Texas shooting ranges? As we build and improve our range what can we offer that is needed in the shooting community?

    Welcome to the Forum!

Welcome. Not sure on the rules about advertising, but I believe you need to become a sponsor.

    And this....

Thank you. I'm not here just to advertise, but I definitely want to tell people about our range so I checked the rules for advertising and I think you're right...I need to become a sponsor. I sent an email to the administrator to learn how to do that.

    Gunz are icky.
I’ve no idea of your range layout.
One of my pet peeves about modern ranges is the distance and obstacles I have to drag my gear over to get to the bench.
If I have to park 200yds at least have a sidewalk I can use my gear cart on.
Don’t make drag my gear thru mud or rocks. I will not return if I have do that.
Old school ranges often allowed you park directly behind the shooting tables.

Is that 600 yards on the one long rifle range?
I am trying to guesstimate on my phone and it is tricky.

700 yards, just looked at your website. I think charging $30 for a safety class is going to turn a lot of folks off to your place.
You are the first outdoor range I have seen that also charges by the hour. Not sure how well that will go over as a lot of times 3 or 4 people will come out to shoot one or two guns and that hour for $80 ( 4 people x$20 hour) will burn up pretty quick.

looks like a fantastic range though. Good luck!!

That's pretty good range estimation! The long range goes out to 700 yards. We also have a 1000, 1100, and mile long range but we require people to shoot on the 700 yard range before we grant access to the ultra long range. It sounds a little snobbish I know, but we just want to make sure that everyone reaching out that far knows what they're doing. If you want to get into those ultra ranges you'll just need to hit steel a couple times at 700 yards and you'll be good to go. If the ultra range isn't your thing anyway then the 700 yard range has targets at every 100 yard line from 100 to 700 yards.

Not snobbish at all. Most people can’t shoot at 300, let alone anything that requires math, lol.

I edited my original post. I completely get wanting to do an orientation vs a “sign this and give me your money” deal.
I am just not sure how many public range goers will go for it.

I see that y'all have active Mil/Leo discounts for memberships. Anything for Vets?
Unfortunately we do not. In the past we have found it is too difficult to verify someone who claims to be a veteran so we have had to implement a system of active duty only because they are able to provide a badge and/or an active duty ID card. At $150 annual membership and $10 per hour range fees (buy four hours get the rest of the day free), RPR Range is still less expensive than most places. Hope to see you out there.

Public access to 700 yds + is getting scarce........

When I actually get to go to an outside range, I can usually stay 6-8 hours easily....
At RPR Range if you pay for three hours you get the fourth hour free. If you pay for four hours you get the whole day.

Also, the 700 yard range is open to the public on an unrestricted basis. If you want to extend farther out we have an ultra long range with targets from 1000 yards to 1 mile, but you need to hit steel at 700 yards before we grant access to the ultra long range.

    NFA friendly I presume?

    Edit: Per your range rules:
No fully automatic weapon may be used on any range without explicit approval of the Range Master. Controlled rapid fire is authorized. The Range Master will determine whether rapid fire is safe.

So what criteria is used for approval or disapproval for select fire firearms?

    No .50 BMG........aw shucks......but I do get it....
