Contacted the engraver again yesterday.....more excuses........because of a physical injury is unable to work on it.......said he might have another engraver finish the work...............last month it was his pet that passed away...

When I started this thread in October 2018. I had received the gun back from Colt who had it since April of 2018..........So it coming up on 2 years since I bought the Commander and started it's journey.....

I absolutely hate freaking drama and this has turned into nothing but drama...............

    Deep breath........................heavy sigh..................
    Damn.

    Update:

Engraver still has the slide, it's not had any more work since I last contacted him and he is still assuring me I'm on top of his list when he is able to sit at his bench (leg injury in February).

    The journey continues...............

    Update:

Spoke to the engraver 3 weeks ago who promised to have it ready two weeks ago.....

Will contact him again after the 4th........

A friend found a trigger I have been looking for over a year to find.....I had bought a couple of triggers for the Commander, but just didn't get a buzz........

I plan to highly polish this one and then nitre blue it to the neon fire blue found on fine firearms.....

A pre 1917 one piece milled and checkered original Colt trigger.....................

I had asked the engraver to send pics of the slide ...before..sending it back to me...

It arrived today in the mail. I am not happy with the slide. There is no improvement from the first time he worked on it. I will not post pics at this time or comment further due to possible litigation.

So............today the slide has returned once again. There were some issues getting it color case hardened due to something the engraver did to the slide, but Sterling Gunsmithing in Amarillo was able to over come the issues and got it looking better than I thought it would turn out.

Now for the reassembly process which will be slow, because I changed my mind on parts that I had gathered in advance and have decided to go another way.................

    The journey continues.....................

I am an old die hard 1911 fan. A polished and deeply blued Colt with wood furniture is my ideal firearm.
I hope you finally get this to the condition your dreamed of. Way too much stress and strain for me.
