I got my P229 and P226 in .40 S&W from GTs a few years back for around $320 each. Both were hardly shot and are 2 of my favorites.

The last time I was in GTs was back in November. The only Sigs they had were P229 DAK models in .357 Sig. Hopefully they got what you are looking for.

    Texasgordo,

    That is precisely WHY that I have not yet bought a SIG in .40 S&W. = I just don't like/want a DAK in .357 or .40 caliber.

    yours, satx

What, like a Glock in 10mm? Or just shitty body armor like IIA
The round/p90 was designed as a PDW specifically to penetrate body armor on the battle field. Since those rounds arent available you have lost the reason to use it, that is the cost isnt worth it IMHO.

A glock of any caliber placed in places body armor doesnt cover, nose down to top of body armor or the triangle above the body armor to the chin, and training to be able to hit those spots is a much better return on your investment.

I wouldn't consider a Glock hitting where there's no body armor, penetrating/overcoming body armor. I'm aware of 5.7, I was only referring to the Glock statement.

I'm not sure what the hell "knockdown power" is, but .45 and 9mm have essentially the same chance of incapacitation or causing a mortal injury. They both require good shot placement, otherwise they do basically the same thing.

Get a .45 ACP moving at around 2500 fps and it's a different story.
A .45 imparts twice the momentum of a 9 mm. And creates a hole roughly twice as big.

Larger hole means larger wound channel, more nerves damaged and screaming. Twice the momentum means twice the impact of the round.

These are not essentially the same thing.

People can talk about shot placement. So carry a .22, since you get even more rounds and after all a .22 between the eyes will kill. You know, that shot placement thing. Heck, get a needle gun and have even MORE capacity and even less recoil. It is a scientific fact that a perfectly placed needle can be fatal.

Except for highly trained and experienced professionals, confidence is shot placement is not well placed (pun intended).

Ok, so a person is supposed to achieve that perfect shot placement when the adrenaline is shooting through the body such that the hands may well be shaking, their heart is pounding so hard they can hear it in their ears, emotions are sky high, they are under attack and possibly under fire. Right. Great situation for the 95% of the people to achieve perfect shot placement. Umm, no. And a number of soldiers who have seen combat and LEO's who have been in gunfights have related these exact sentiments to me. And I value their experience more than that of any keyboard jockey.

Bigger hole, more damage. Great likelihood of hitting something that will discourage the attacker from continuing. Shots don't have to be fatal, they do need to inflict enough pain and/or damage that the attacker either loses the will to keep up the attack or they cannot keep up the attack.

You determined this with exacting science and logic one would assume.

So, we know there are no magic bullets that knock everyone down. I currently only own 22LR (for plinking and grandkids), 9mm and 45 ACP for various reasons mentioned above. The weapon on my hip right now is a 45.

There was one thing I read in the thread that makes me think a 40 S&W might be a good choice to have around: ammo availability during the shortage. I don’t reload (yet), so I am stuck finding ammo on the shelves. I’ve shot my brother’s G22, and hit just fine with it. It might be worthwhile getting a 40 just to have on hand if we go through another shortage. This is not in place of my 9s or 45s, but in addition to.

Actually, that is basic science. Calculate the momentum yourself. Pure math. Pure science. Check the expanded diameters. Pure math.

Very simple science for anyone who can be open minded.

So shooting where there is no body armor isnt overcoming the problem body armor presents?
