They're back at it again in Austin on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

The Senate Select Mass Violence Prevention & Community Safety committee will be holding a hearing to examine Universal Background Checks.

Examine ways to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who would not pass a federal background check, while protecting the Second Amendment and Texans' right to bear arms. Examine whether stranger-to-stranger gun sales in Texas should be subject to background checks.

Have you started researching data to back up your testimony? Have you put in a request to take the day off from work? Have you talked to your local gun friends about carpooling? If not, why not?

There is a big push for these so-called "Universal Background Checks." Bloomberg's red shirted harpies will be there in force. We need gun owners to show up and speak up to counter MDA's lies.

Yeah, it can feel like a game of Whack-A-Mole with hearings popping up every other week when we all have more pressing and productive things to do than talk to a bunch of self-important cretins.

If you cannot attend a hearing, you can still make your voice heard. Most effective is a written letter to the committee members. Yes, an old fashioned, ink on paper, snail mailed letter. Next up is a phone call to their office. You may only get to speak with a staff member but a polite and coherent expression of your views will be noted. An email is the quickest and easiest, but also the most likely to be ignored.

Bloomberg dropped out. You may have to deal with Beto now as Biden seems to have picked him as his gun grabber Czar.

I never said give up, just a change in front line players. His check book has always been there and will more than likely continue for some time.

Senate Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety hearing on March 10, 2020 postponed.

The Senate Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety hearing on March 10, 2020 will be postponed to a later date. Out of an abundance of caution given the recent public health events occurring around the globe, and to ensure that the committee has robust participation from the public on these critical issues, the committee has decided to move this scheduled hearing to a later date in the future. The committee apologizes for any inconvenience.

GOA is kicking around the idea of holding a short training session on Tuesday since many have already made travel plans. Possible topics include: Convention training, legislative/lobbying (how to testify) training, and/or gun rights talking points.

No definite time/place/details yet but I will post them when available.

EDIT: No GOA training or event on Tuesday.
