Just saw that. The Spurs and Lakers Rivalry was an all time great. I know Kobe had a past, but I grew to actually like the guy. RIP.

Unreal. Some rumors that one or more of his daughters was on board. I really really hope not. RIP Mamba

    Unbelievable.

When he played, he lived in Newport Coast, a super-wealthy suburb of Newport Beach. Rather than sit in 3 hour traffic to get to their practice facility &. Staples Center, he commuted daily in a helicopter.

So he was no stranger to helicopter travel.

My favorite NBA player . I grew up watching him. I havent watched many NBA games since he retired. Sucks to see your childhood hero leave like that.

    It’s so sad.

I can only imagine that his last moments as a father were supremely valuable, spent comforting his daughter.

We all do. I'd say biggest thing is the sexual assault charges were dismissed. Anyone who claims they have no regrets is a bald face liar.

I was a big Rockets fan early 90s to early 2000 and as such grew to hate Kobe, but only because he was so dominant; I respected that. RIP Kobe, Gigi and the 7 other souls.

The horror he felt at what might happen to him must have been nothing compared to what he must have felt knowing his daughter was there and nothing he could do. That is something I would not wish on anyone.
    RIP

Warriors / Lakers was a big deal in the bay area, but Bryant was usually a good sport.

RiP to him and his girl

Condolences to family, friends and fans

Very Twilight Zoneish that he was the third place scorer in NBA history and another player surpassed him and took that spot seemingly (if I understood the article correctly) just the day before he died. RIP - all of them.

I hated Kobe when he played, but I did respect him and at the end on his last game you could see he was still great. Dropping 60 points in his last game was unreal. He was so dominant and he had such a WILL to win. You can't teach that.

I was out at a restaurant when a friend said Kobe died. I said that's a nice troll, but then checked it to find out it was true it had only been announced for minutes. About an hour later we saw that his daughter, the one that chose to take up basketball, was also in the helicopter. I just said "oh no." How horrible.

EDIT -- some of ya'll are pilots so here is the radar and audio traffic .

The young lady dropped criminal case in favor of a civil case. But, Kobe had to issue this statement in order for her to drop the criminal case.

"After months of reviewing discovery, listening to her attorney, and even her testimony in person, I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter."

Other people died in the crash, probably some good people, and the pilots were probably veterans. The media knows who these people are but nothing is mentioned about them.

People care when some dies that brought joy to their life. Whether it was by shooting guns or shooting hoops.

Coming in to this thread to virtue signal your lack of interest is just as bad as any claims you might make about those who are saddened in some way. If the death has no effect on you, move along. No reason to shit all over the thread.

    Thanks.
