I have been loading 9's and 45's with Unique but am thinking about switching to TiteGroup as it's supposed to be cleaner and takes less. Thoughts?.

Titegeoup is ideal for both calibers, it is cleaner than bullseye or unique, position insensitive, and can be used in every conceivable pistol cartridge if you want. Hodgdon lists it all the way to 500S&W. It also has two slower variants in OEM and with those three powders you can load anything common with great results. Give it a try.

I made up some 7.62x39 loads to test. Now I just need the gun to test them in. :D

The bullet is a Lee 155gr cast bullets that I powder coated burnt orange. I'm trying out 2400, H4895, and BL-C(2).

Burnt orange for that caliber makes perfect sense. Caliber always sounds good on paper, being 7.62, but it comes up short in reality. Every once in a while it does something worth bragging about but normally you just shake your head and wonder... just like a certain college team. :)

I met up with Deavis and picked up his last full case of Fiocchi SP primers and came to the conclusion that I'm going to jump in and start casting with a borrowed pot. I'll have to buy a six gang mold/handles, a push thru die and some alox.
I have dryflash3 from arfcom to thank for moving me forward on this.

SQLGeek, I'll make notes for you on my progress. I'll be flying blind/without a net, the same way I started into reloading!

Three days to get the tools shipped and I'll try to have a post for you.

What calibers were you looking at that you needed the molds for?

SQLGeek, it may be a while since it’s sposed to rain for the next week and I’m doing this crap in my back yard!

rp-, I was planning on 147gr but I think I’ll go 124 nstead.

I bought 6k 115 Berry’s a while back cause i got a deal on them but my preference is 124; mentally, there is more bearing surface creating better accuracy but we'll just have to see.

More reading=120 gr mold, sizing die and handles from Midway, be here Friday.

Reading learned me the bullets will be heavier than stated but I like the profile offered by the mold so i ordered it.

Lee 120 gr TC 6 gang. I took a minute cause I read somewhere that Lee was a waste, just go with NOE but I couldn't find what I wanted at NOE so I followed Fred's advice at GT.

I've cranked out several K with Lee 6c molds. People can talk trash about Lee all they want but the 2c and 6c molds I have are great. Super easy. Super quick. Super consistent. I'll keep using them.

I did have problems with my XDm with the 45 version of your mold. It jams the lands because it's got a super tight chamber.

I started with a Lee single stage press and powder dropper. Everything else I acquired as I could until I had enough to load. I have abused that press doing things I shouldn't have (like swaging) and it still holds strong. I did bend the big 3/4" rod handle a little though. Still my go to for low volume. I have 2 of the pro1000 presses and they work great the way I use them. I use those for anything over 100 rounds.

Anyway, there's a YouTube channel called fortunecookie45lc. He does a lot with Lee and the lee site even mentions him for direction. He comments about why the Lee aluminum molds are good as well. Check him out.

Clean your mold with alcohol. "Smoke" the mold with a lighter. Set it across the top of the pot to heat up. If you dip a corner in and the lead hardens then The molds too cold.

I’ve seen his posts. I don’t remember where but...

    Maybe his videos?

Do you realize you’re not helping! I got four more days to wait(lol)?

I think I’m going to need a bigger pot though. This will just get me started but it’s all good. I’m still in for under a hundred.

What pot did you get? I have the 10# Lee pot. It leaks and I tried all of the fixes but what finally worked was clamping a pair of vice grips on top of the valve pin to hold weight on it.

My borrowed Lee pot. The lead pucks are mine.

He keeps asking if I’ve started it up and I say, why what am I going to do with it, pour it on the ground?

Do you clean and smoke it every time you use it?

I have used molds. Still need to learn how to make bullets.
