Are y'all referring to 40 Short and Weak or the magnum version, 10mm?

10mm is just a marketing gimmick intended to take advantage off all the fan bois in who think using metric measurements give mystical commie powers to an otherwise underwhelming cartridge.

If that's the case why does 40 Short and Weak have a case length of .850 and drives a 155gr bullet at 1300 FPS AND the 10MM has a length of .990 and drives the same bullet at 1450 FPS.

Ever hear of the difference between the 38 SP and the 357 Mag? Sound familiar.

For reference old slabsides drives a 200 gr at 1000FPS and the 10MM gets one up to 1150FPS

Today, we know more about ballistics and fighting with firearms than we ever have before. We know that theres no difference in ballistics in 9, .40, or .45

So what does your .45 do that justifies it's selection over 9 or .40?

Ok, IF that were true (it is not), what does 9mm do that justifies it's selection over .40 or .45?

Cheap, high capacity, lightweight, low recoil, # of firearms options...

You know, all the things that actually matter in a handgun? Things that, you know, make it true?

Did you really have to ask? Did you time travel from the 1950's?

Cheap and weak, got it. Personally I prefer the ones that are expensive and not for the faint of heart.

Please delete that picture, its making all the .45 fan boys think thats what their 1911 shoots, and it's making good information harder to share without having to defend it left and right

Well...the thread is about how we feel about metal guns and THAT is a metal gun.

I do prefer metal over polymer.

I do prefer revolvers over auto loaders.

I am a .45 and 1911 fan, my personal favorite round and auto loader gun design.

The only good (true) information you've shared on the 9mm subject is that it's cheaper, higher magazine capacity and lower recoil. Beyond that it's aaaaaall personal preference.

I gave two sources that also state that they sell more 9mm than .40 or .45

Theres nothing wrong with liking something that isn't the current hotness, or carrying something that might not be 100% practical, life is too short to be completely practical, but facts are facts

Piatol rounds just aren't going to do rifle like damage.

I'm not going to hate on anyone for carrying a .45, a 1911, or whatever.

But be reasonable about it. People get their ego wrapped up in it, and refuse to even entertain the idea they might not have made the best choice.

Except for .40. .40 is an unreasonable choice for unreasonable people.

Pretentious, pedantic... some have a remarkable talent for turning a reasonably entertaining thread into a headache.

I'd venture most of us have guns in many calibers and further suggest we like most of them. If .40 S&W can precipitate such demagoguery I'd almost hesitate to mention the venerable .303 British

ETA: on my mind, reloaded a few clips today (yes clips)
