Looking at getting 2017 328D possibly. Anyone have experience with one? I have an RT cycle so know what BMW stands for already. Just looking for something different with RWD and this seemed like a decent deal.

    Does it have a warranty?
Will you sell it before the warranty is up?

If you don’t answer “yes” to each of the above, then a BMW automobile probably ain’t for you.

As for the car itself, they drive very nice.
That engine pulls pretty hard and makes great torque. It’s a pretty quick little car.

    And it’ll get 40 mpg

I used to write press releases and brochures (mostly translating verbatim from German, really) back in the day for BMW USA.
(They don’t do brochures like that anymore)

So I really should know better...but my beater car is a 2003 325i with 150k miles.

I got it for next to nothing from a buddy who got tired of plowing money into it. The stack of receipts told me that pretty much everything that was gonna break, has been fixed

This particular car is a SULEV model. The fuel pump was replaced under warranty, but when it goes out it’s an $8k job to replace...never buy one of these LOL

It’s a sealed tank, in-tank pump, and the entire rear chassis has to be disassembled to get to the tank out.

Due to failures, CARB forced BMW to extend the warranty on the fuel pump to 15 years/150k miles. Mine was replaced at year 13 of the warranty, so I hope it’s good for a while.

This car won’t die...but it’s a ticking time bomb. So I’m torn on putting any money into it for basic maintenance, fearful that it’ll die the day after I do anything to it.

We know a couple that are solely BMW folks and one of them always buys an extended warranty. This one still has warranty left but I will look into an extended one.
